Clinton theatre goers were
treated to some good
performances last week as two
casts from Central Huron
Secondary School performed in
"You're a Good Man Charlie
Brown".
The show was unlike most
recent productions by students at
the high school in that it was a
simple, six-character play, not a
large production with large cast
and elaborate sets.
The simplicity of the play was
endangered in the huge
auditorium which is not noted for
its good accoustics or sight-lines.
Still, the young casts managed to
bring off a hit performance which
played to its biggest audience on
the final night, a sign that
audience reaction was good in the
previous performances.
Bert Lobb and Rick Snell stole
The April meeting of the 4-H
Trailblazers horse club was held
at Murray Scott's home on April
1'7,
When members arrived they
were asked to fill in a quiz paper,
The idea was to break ice for the
new members. Each was to get
people to sign their paper if they
filled the requirements of the
question Such as "the tallest boy
present or the girl with the
biggest feet. " The quiz served its
purpose and provided a lot of fun,
The meeting was opened with
the pledge. Ken Fidom called the
roll and read the minutes of the
last meeting.
Len McGregor was at the
meeting and talked about the club
and interesting items related to
it.

There were 120 Lions from

played well, although now and then
had a few problems synchronizing
with the stage performers,
something to be expected in
amateur theatre where rehearsal
time is limited,
The second half of the play went
much better than the first
possibly because it contained
longer skits instead of one-line
jokes and was more easily
followed by the audience. The
songs were much better in the
second half too because they
involved most of the cast, not
individual performers.
The most beautiful song was
saved for' the last when the whole
cast joined in with "Happiness"
and finished the show off so
beautifully it left one wishing
there was more,
The show was directed by L.D.
Gray, English head at CHSS and
his wife conducted the orchestra.
Choreography was done by Wendy
Bird; costumes by Mrs. E.
DeGroot, lighting by R, Newnliam,
and set construction by S.
Doherty,
Rob Roy was stage manager and
Mrs. C. Renshaw was artistic
director.
There were weak points in the
production, there always are, but
the cast and crew can be proud of
their production and the
community will eagerly await the
next production by. the students.
On Saturday, April 22, the
Central Huron Secondary School
Auditorium was really swinging,
when over 200 square dancers,
from all over South Western
Ontario, journeyed to Clinton to
dance.
The Clinton Wheel Dealers
Square Dance Club were honoured
to be the hosts to SWOSDA (South
Western Ontario Square Dance
Association). It was the final
dance for this season, which runs
from September to April, meeting
every fourth Saturday of the
month, in different places
throughout the South Western
Ontario area.
The hall was gaily decorated in
a spring setting, for which a big
thank you should go to presidents,
Ross and Mildred Merrill.
At 2:30 p.m. caller Glenn
Patterson got everyone squared
up for the first tip of the day,
followed by callers from London,
Leamington and Wheatley,
A new Round Dance was
demonstrated and taught by
Edward and Lois Wise, called
"The Flip Side." This was a cute,
gimmick type dance based on a
Flip Wilson routine.
The afternoon closed with a
business meeting, followed by a
delicious hot turkey buffet
supper, held in the cafeteria. The
caterers ofthe high school are to
be congratulated, The
compliments were many.
The Round Dance Party
followed with Round Dance
Instructor, Lois Wise, at the
mike, putting the dancers through
the various intricate basics. She
introduced several other Round
