The responsive reading was read by Gail Elliott and Lynn Turner. Meditation on the Bible readings was given by Holly Elliott. A reading was given by Yvonne Bean, The offering was received by Nancy Verbeek and Patricia McDowell. Prayer was offered by Sherry Plaetzer, The c.p.I.T. girls sang the anthem, We Shall Overcome, The Explorer girls presented a pantomine on the Good Samaritan and the reading was done by Jane Thompson and Janet Cook. Mrs, Verbeek thanked the girls for presenting the program and a donation was given to the girls. Mrs, Lawrence Plaetzer presided for the business part of the meeting and opened with a poem, The minutes were approved as read by the secretary, Mrs. Beth Lansing. Reports and thank-you notes were read and business conducted. Pastor Alfred Fry closed the meeting with the benediction. Lunch was served by the members of Unit I, PERSONALS Mrs. Elmer Trommer visited last Sunday at Stratford hospital with her mother, Mrs. H. Odbert who is a patient there, Mr. and Mrs. William Clark spent the weekend in London with Mr. and Mrs. J. A, Macintosh and family. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rea of Sarnia spent the weekend with her parents Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Dobie and brother Ross Dobie. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Davies returned last , week from the winter spent in Florida. Mrs, William Straughan is a patient in Clinton hospital with a fractured bone in her arm. Mrs. Harry Arthur visited last Sunday with her mother, Mrs, Elmer Keller of Dublin, at Seaforth hospital where she is hospitalized, Mrs, John Seers is a patient in Goderich hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery, Mr. and Mrs, Harold Davis of Bowmansville, New York, visited last week with her sister, Mrs. Donald Haines and Mr. Haines. Mr, and Mrs. Ronald Livermore and Robert of Fordwich also Visited last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Patrick O'Malley of Kingsville, Mr. Joe Bell of Claresholme, Alberta and Mrs. Raymond Redmond of Goderich visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnston and Miss Laura Phillips. Mrs. Bert Craig arrived home last Sunday from Victoria Hospital where she had been a patient for a couple of weeks and is with her daughter, Mrs. Len Archambault, Mr. Archambault and family. Norman McDowell is a patient in Goderich hospital where he The monthly meeting of the Hospital Auxiliary was held Monday, May 1 in the Board Rooms with Mrs. Paul Walden presiding. Mrs. Beecher Menzies led the prayer for Hospital Auxiliaries and Mrs. H. Howard read the minutes of the previous meeting. Mrs. H. Porter, treasurer, reported that $603 had been realized from the vanishing card parties. The Clinton Women's Institute will staff the cart for the month of May and the Varna U.C,W, the month of June. Hospital pay will be observed on Friday afternoon, May 12. This presents an opportunity for the public to tour underwent surgery last ELDON J. MaCLENNAN This community was saddened last Friday, April 28 by the sudden death of Eldon MacLennan who passed away in Clinton hospital, He was horn February 13, 1930, the son of Mrs, Ithetta Jardine and the late Emile MacLennan of Ashfield Township, He Was employed at the Sifto Salt Mine, Goderich. He was a member of Knox United Church, Auburn. In 1959 he was married to Elizabeth Anderson and they have resided in Ashfield Township and Gorrie before coming to Auburn. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Roderick, Shawn, Timothy and one daughter, Cynthia, all at home; also his mother, Mrs. Rhetta MacLennan of Lochalsh; six brothers, Roderick and George of Toronto; Donald, Wingham; Finlay, Ripley; Jack, Stratford; Sandy, Lochalsh; and four sisters, Mrs. Louise Miller, Palmerston; Mary, Levac; Mrs. Margaret Morton, Sarnia; and Florence, Lochalsh, Pastor Alfred Fry conducted the funeral service at the Arthur Funeral Home on Monday, May 1 with burial taking place at Kincardine. Pallbearers were five brothers, Donald, Finlay, Jack, Rod, George and a brother-in-law Bruce Miller. Flowerbearers were Gordon Powell and Ross Daer. the hospital and enjoy a cup of tea with friends. Interesting reports of the recent Spring Conference held at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital April 24 were given by Mrs. Menzies, Mrs, Wilson, Mrs. Harrett and Mrs. Davies and discussions on some of the new ideas followed. It was decided to purchase six new smocks for the use of vcilunteer workers; also to hold a raffle on a blanket at the next meeting, The June meeting will be held at the summer, horn? of Mrs. P. Walden. The meeting will begin at. 11 a.m., followed by a pot luck luncheon. The regular meeting of the Women's Institute was held April 27 in the Agriculture Board. Rooms. Mrs. Penn, president, presided and following the opening exercises, plans were made to look after the cart at Clinton Public Hospital for the month of May. The Blossom Tea at Huronview is on May 3 and arrangements were made to send sandwiches and cookies for the tea. It is hoped a number of members will be able to attend. A letter from Huron and Perth Tuberculosis and Respiratory Society was read, asking for a representative from this district to be appointed. Mrs. W. Colclough will inquire into this matter for further details. The committees then gave their annual reports, A motion was moved and seconded that these reports be accepted. Mrs. H, Gaunt, of St. Helens, District president installed the officers for the coming year. She also suggested getting together in making our reports to end duplication. Institute members were urged to take in the 4-H Achievement Day, April 29 at Central Huron Secondary School. The Clinton WA. held a banquet in Presbyterian Church, Clinton in the evening when 41 members and guests enjoyed a fine meal BY RENA CALDWELL PERSONALS Mr. Kenneth Jones has successfully passed his second year examinations at Guelph and has returned home for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McLellan, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cooper spent the weekend in Nashville, Tenn., and attended the "Grand Ole Opry". Mr. Keith Lovell had a narrow escape from death on Friday when the train parted the tractor he was riding from the vehicle it was drawing. The Easter thankoffering Meeting of Kippen United Church Women was held Wednesday Oevening, April 26, with a good attendance. Invited organizations attending from Hayfield, Brucefield, Zurich, United and Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall. SATURDAY MAY 6th HURON CENTENNIAL SCHOOL, BRUCEFIELD 8:00 P.M. SPEAKER DAVID MAINSE OF "CROSS ROADS PROGRAM" T.V, Channel 13 served by the Madeline Lane Auxiliary. After the singing of the institute Grace, Mrs. Clifford Holland, past president proposed a toast to the Clinton W.I. This was replied to by the President, Mrs. Popp, and all singing the Institute Ode. Mrs. E. Radford favored with an instrumental. Mrs. Nelson, as programme chairman, then stated how the WA. have the established colors of Royal Blue and Gold as their colors. This was evident in the color scheme of table decorations, candles, flowers and anniversary cake and the place cards and name cards. The W.I. Crest decorated the wall. She also told of the W.I. Ode, the Grace and our Motto 'For Home and Country'. Mrs. H. Gaunt of St. Helens, District President, proposed a toast to F ,W.I.O.; this was replied to by Miss C. Hunt, Home Economist. At the close of supper, a short sing-song was enjoyed and members took part in the history of F .W.1.0. through their 75 years of organization. Mrs. Ray Connel extended our thanks to the District President and Home Economist, and all who took part in any way towards making the evening a success; and to the ladies of the church for a fine supper. This was replied to by Mrs. R. McCann. The president, Mrs, W. J. F. Bell welcomed all present and read a poem entitled "Welcome". Mrs. Peter Dewys had charge of the worship and used the theme "Praise". She said this is the most beautiful time of the year, when trees are wearing bright, new, green garments and the grass blades have a polished shine. We may praise Him with our minds, with our service and with our lips. Also singing praise unto God is something each one of us may do. God listens to the song in our hearts, not the tune on our lips. She also read Family Beatitudes and closed the worship service with prayer. Mrs. Ken McKay introduced the speaker for the evening, Miss Louise Talbot of Hayfield who showed slides of her trip, to the Holy Land in 1970. The tour included Rome, Egypt, Greece and the Holy Land proper and lasted three weeks, Her commentary along with the pictures was very interesting and enjoyable. The Hayfield Ladies Trio, Miss Louise Talbot, Mrs. Ann Chapman and Mrs. Mary Lou Tait sang four musical numbers which were enjoyed by all. Mrs. Tait was the accompanist, two numbers on the organ and two on the piano. Mrs. William Consitt gave courtesy remarks and presented the ladies with a small gift. Mrs. Bell read an invitation to Kippen U.C.W. to attend a Daffodil Tea at Centralia United Church on May 10. She closed the meeting with prayer. A social hour followed. The hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. E. Kyle and Mrs. 0. Workman.
