Lorne flunking was elected as recording steward for the coining year, In the reports, clerk of the Session Jim Jamieson reported that Baptismal service would be held on Sunday, May 7 and anyone wishing to present their-children for baptism should contact the minister or their district elder, The reception of new members by Profession of Faith will be held May 28, He reported that a number of young people were in the confirmation classes now being held. The Official Board also adopted the World Development Plan and set Sunday, April 30 as World Development and Relief Sunday when the congregation would be given an opportunity to make special gifts toward this fund. They also adopted the church in picture plan for the congregation. LONDESBORO CUBS The first Londesboro Cub and Scout group committee met on Tuesday evening with Jack Lee as chairman. Murray Adams, the treasurer, reported a good balance financially. It was decided to have the Father and Son Banquet on Wednesday, April 12 in the church hall. Ian Hulley and Stan McDonald were appointed a committee to make all the arrangements for the evening. It was decided to purchase a Cub flag and also some more camping equipment. Both the Cub and Scout groups reported an excellent year in attendance and program for the boys. CHEERIO CLUB The Cheerio Club met at the home of Myrtle Fairservice on Wednesday, March 29. The meeting opened with a poem, "Happy Spring" by president Ena Howatt. The hymn "There shall he showers of blessings", followed by scripture. A story "His Gifts" and prayer were given by Ena Howatt. Minutes of the last meeting were read by secretary Ida Durnin. Correspondence was a letter from Ida Townsend, The treasurer's report was given and it was moved to send $10 to the Blyth Easter Seal Campaign. The April meeting will be held at the home of Jessie Jones on April 26 with Group 4 in charge. The roll call was answesed with 13 present. The draw was won by Ena Howatt. A sing song was led by Emma Livingstone with Gladys Armstrong at the piano. Songs included "The more we get together", "Old Black Joe", "Old Oaken Bucket", "Flow Gently Sweet Afton" and the "Old Rugged Cross". A contest on national flowers was conducted by Elsie Youngblutt. The meeting closed with a poem, "At Easter". Laura Lyoniprogram included some games of court whist. Lunch was served by Dorothy Brunsdon, Myrtle Fairservice and Ida Durnin. NIGHTY-NITES The fifth meeting of the Londesboro I Nighty-Nites was held on Monday, March 27 in the Londesboro Hall. Thirteen members were present. The roll call was answered by comparing the cost of a ready-made garment to one home made. HALL BOARD CARD PARTY Eleven tables were in play on Wednesday night at the Hall Board card party. Winners were; ladies high, Mrs. Lorne flunking; lone hands, Mrs. Les Redd; low, Mrs. Cunningham, Clinton; men's high, Jim Buchanan; lone hands, Ian }Wiley; low, Leiper; lucky door prizes, Bernice Cobian, Clinton. HI-C MEETS The Londesboro Hi-C met in the church hall on Sunday evening under the leadership of Donna and Robert Shaddick. The study for the evening was on pollution and a film, "A Matter of Attitudes" was shown and a discussion was held on pollution in our own area and what could be done about it. During the business period it was decided to hold a variety concert on Friday, April 28 in the community hall to raise money for Iii-C projects. The monthly recreation night was cancelled in favour of the variety night. The Hi-C decided they would assist in purchasing new hymn books for the church as their project. PERSONALS Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Duizer, Laurel, Lisa and Stephen were Mr, and Mrs. Art flunking of Exeter and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne flunking and Murray. Attending the Easter Thankoffering of Auburn U.C.W. on Thursday night were Mrs Ena Howatt, Mrs. Laura Sundercock, Mrs. Jessie Jones, Mrs. Laura Lyon and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Chrysler visited on the weekend with her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tamblyn and family. The community was shocked on Friday afternoon when death claimed another resident, Mr. Chris Kennedy, our rural mail man for the past 17 years, died of a heart attack at the age of 50 years. Sympathy is extended to his wife, Joyce and family and to his mother. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Russell Good and Sandra to the village. They moved in on Thursday after purchasing the home of Mrs. Good's father, Joseph Youngblutt. Mr, and Mrs. John Lyons (the Goods' daughter) have purchased the Good farm. Mr. Joe Youngblutt returned home Thursday from Clinton Hospital where he had been a patient the past three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Shobbrook, Darrell and Diana moved into their new home on Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Knox and family of Goderich visited with Mr. Knox's sister, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Shobbrook and family, assisting with the moving. Miss Barbara Burns, R.N. at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, spent last weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns. Miss Carolyn Watters of Goderich and Mr, Alan Shepard of London called on her aunt and uncle, Mr. Will Govier and Mrs. Lillie Webster on Sunday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook were Sunday supper guests with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs, Ron Ellerby of Clinton and celebrated Vicki's birthday. Dora Lyon returned home with them. Miss. Maxine flunking returned home last week after spending one anti a half years in India. .She is now working part-time in Victoria Hospital, London. On ,June 1 she will leave for two years in Africa. Mr, and Mrs, Murray Lyon,, Bradley and Deana returned home on Saturday from a three-week holiday in Florida. Visitors with Mrs. Emma Livingstone were Miss Cathy and Timmy Livingstone of Exeter over the weekend. Rev, McDonald was a supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Earl of Wingham on Wednesday evening on the occasion of the first birthday of his nephew, Jeffery Earl. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Hann and family of Waterloo were Good Friday visitors with her father, Mr. Will Govier and Mr's. Lillie Webster. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Howatt and girls of Stratford visited on Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Ena Howatt. Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Durnin were Mrs. Dorothy Cornish of Exeter on Friday night, Mr, Russell Wuan of London on Sunday and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Durnin of Whitechurch and Mr. John Taras of Wallaceburg on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Armstrong and family of Stratford spent Sunday with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. J. Armstrong. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Millson and family of Woodstock spent Saturday evening with Mrs. Millson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook, returning home Sunday. The first Londesboro Scout group came home champions from the Huron District Hockey Tournament held in Clinton arena last Saturday, April 1. The tournament took in teams from Ailsa Craig to Goderich including teams from Clinton, Kingsbridge, Brucefield, Bayfield, Ailsa Craig, Goderich and Londesboro. We congratulate the boys on bringing the trophy back to Londesboro. The team was also the 1971 champs. Attending the Canadian Memorial Service for the late Stewart McNair on Friday evening at the Watt Funeral Home were Ken Hulley, District President of the Canadian Foresters; Walker McClure, District Deputy, Canadian Foresters; Tom Whyte, Court Constantine and Rev. McDonald. The service was conducted by Rev. McDonald, chief Ranger of the Canadian Foresters. Rev. McDonald also attended the funeral on Saturday afternoon.
