of three series two games to none.

The third weekend of activity
began Friday night when Listowel

overtime to defeat Elmira and
advance in "B" play. The winning
goal was the second of the night
for Danny Kraemer. Rick Selling

two.
Peewees win
The Kinsmen Pee Wees have
played four games this week one
with Seaforth and three in the
Mitchell Pee Wee Tournament.
IntWsetztil game of, the zone,
playoffs akallist Seaforth, Clinton
came up with the best game they
have played this year when they
defeated Seaforth 4-0. John
McMahon scored on a play from
R., Heard and Bill Roy for the only
goal of the first period.
On Saturday night, Mike Anstett
picked up five points with three
goals and two assists to lead
Clinton to their second series
win. Other Clinton scorers were
Don Stewart with two goals and
singles by Dan Colquhoun and
John Vanloo. Clinton now meets
the winner of Goderich and
Seaforth in the finals of which they
were champions of last year'.
Seaforth is the team that
defeated Clinton two games to one
in WOAA playoffs but were thrown
out because of using two unsigned
players. It is also hoped that a half
decent crowd turn out to support
the boys as recent crowds have
been pitiful.
Brussels beat Zurich 3-0 in
the "E" semi final.
In Saturday evening play,
Sarnia township defeated Huron
Park 8-3 in "D" play. The game
saw 14 penalties called.
The next game, however, saw
only four penalties called, all to
Listov,rel as Listowel defeated
Meaford 5-2, scoring four goals
in the final period.
The other semi-final for "B"
was won by Blenheim by a 7-2
count over Hanover. Again there
were only four penalties.
CHAMPIONSHIPS
Championship play began
Sunday afternoon when St. George
won the "D" championship,
defeating Sarnia Township 9-4.
Puck-luck and penalties helped
St. George to the victory. They
were able to take advantage of
their opportunities while Sarnia
Two, was not. Sarnia also hurt
their chances by picking up seven
penalties in the final period.
In the second period, Gary
Tebhutt got an unassisted goal.
and Raymond Wheeler' finished oft
a play started by Steve Jones and
Paul Wise.
In the third. R. Heard scored on
a pass from Pete Thompson and
Bill Roy. lithe coach can keep the
boys skating and checking like
this, they can win the zone title.
In the Mitchell Tournament
they nAit New Hamburg at 12:30
and IM 2-1. This was the
tightest game in the entire series.
At 4p.m. they took on Arthur and
won 6-0 and at 7:00 they won the
"B" series by blanking Wiliam
5-0,
Three games in a little over six
hours and it was a great day for
Derek Divok and John McMahon.
Derek stopped 47 shots and
allowed only two goals in three
games. This won him the Joe
Higgins trophy for the outstanding
goalie. John scored seven goals
and one assist in the three games,
and was the most serious
contender for the most valuable
player award. D. Anstett of
Seaforth won this one, although
New Hamburg defeated them 5-
2. Of the other goals scored, Gary
Tebhutt got two, R. Heard, R.
Taylor' and Bill Roy, one each.
The third and deciding game
against Seaforth is on Thursday
night at 6:30. On Friday they open
the Goderich Young Canada
Tournament by playing Forest,
and on Saturday are to play two
games against Dearborn.
Twice they had three men in the
penalty box at one time.
David Roung led St. George with
three goals and three assists,
The biggest disappointment of
the afternoon occurred when a
large home crowd saw the Clinton
Bantams unable to bring home the
"C" championship. Tile team
trailed 1-0 after one period but
tied the score in the second. They
came out hot in the third but
couldn't put the puck in the net and
after five minutes of extreme
pressure they sagged and
Dresden picked up the first of four
goals, Trailing 5-2, the Bantams
looked like they might make
another sensational comeback in
the final minutes when they
scored one goal with just over' two
minutes left and nearly scored
another in the last minute, They
couldn't pull out a victory
however.
Cal McCabe led Dresden with
two goals. Mike Whitton. Wally
McFadden. Neil Coke scored the
other's.
Bantams

The Fish and Game Bantams

afternoon in the Bantam
Tournament 'C'' final in a hard-
fought game,
At the end of the second period.
the teams were tied 2-2 and
Clinton came on strong to start
the third. Their efforts were
thwarted a.s they applied pressure
for five initiates.
Dresden came back to take the
lead and they never relinquished
it. Dave Counter' scored Clinton's
first goal from Neil Colquhoun
and Jamie Thompson and Steve
Cook got the other' two—both from
Jamie Thompson.
On Saturday, Clinton beat
Ridgetown 4-3, the game which
put them in the final.
They carried a lead of 4-1 late
in the third period on two goals by
Greg Butler, one assisted by
Steve Cook and one by Robin
McAdam and two goals by Jamie
Thompson, one set up by John
Graham, the other unassisted.
They withstood a late drive by
Ridgetown which fell short and
became the first local team to
arrive in the finals in lire Clinton
Bantam Tournament.
There was a fair crowd in
attendance Saturday, and Sunday's
turnout was very gratifying to the
committee who put in so much
time in organizing this
tournament.
Dave Counter and Steve Cook
with two accounted for Clinton's
scoring.
Paisley and Brussels played a
scoreless draw until late in the
game in the "E" final, Brussels'
goaltender, Hugh Nichol, was
outstanding in the net but was
finally beaten by Rick Campbell
on the first of two goals with 3:55
left. With 24 seconds left,
Campbell shot the puck into an
empty net to seal the win.
Listowel and Blenheim
provided a true finale to the
tournament when they met in an
exciting "B" final.
First one team, then the other',
took the lead in a fast, hard-
checking game. In the long run,
however., it was Blenheim out on
top by a 7--4 count as they scored
four' unanswered goals in the last
seven minutes. Mike McNear
scored three goals and David
O'Brien two for the winners. The
others came from Danny Gagner
and Lee Attewell.
John Wood and David Dubeick
scored twice each for Listowel,

• A 4-2 loss to Goderich on
Thursday left the Clinton
Bantams in third place in Zone 1
with a 9-6-1 record.
a lack-lustre game which
could have gone either way,
Clinton's goals were notched by
Steve Cook from Greg Butler and
Mike Gibbings from Jamie
Thompson and John Graham.
This set up a playoff series
(best two out of three) against
Mitchell and on Monday a weird
contest, unlike any of their
previous meetings, saw Mitchell
win by the unusual score of 12-8.
At the end of two periods,
Mitchell held an unbelievable 9-
1 lead and it appeared it would be a
case of seeing how many they
could score.
The Clinton boys had other
ideas and came on late in the third
period to scare. the Mitchell
crew—outscoring the latter 7-3
in the third to illustrate the
unpredictable aspect of the game
of hockey,
Neil Colquhoun scored the only
goal of the first two periods from
Paul Priestap and Dave Counter.
Rob McAdam got number two
from Mike Gibbings and Jamie
Thompson. Steve Cook scored
unassisted and then with about 10
minutes left, Jamie Thompson .hit
for two, Greg Butler for two and
