"THROUGH THE LOOKING
GLASS"
The theme chosen for the
Hayfield Figure Skating Club for
their annual ice carnival was
"Through The Looking Glass"
(music from Walt Disney),
It was a joy to see as the young
skaters beautifully and gracefully
presented their solo and routine
numbers in their gaily coloured
Costumes; highlighted by the
Arena itself being artistically
decorated with spring flowers,
silver stars and coloured lights
surrounding the entire ice
surface.
Coloured spot-lights focused on
the skaters as they performed to a
capacity audience.
The solo numbers showed an
ever increasing ability in
composition and performance
effected by many hours of
practice by the senior skaters of
the Club, The routine of the junior
skaters was delightful, not only in
their performance but in the
confident manner in which it was
presented; and shows great
potential for future carnivals by
our Bayfield Club.
A special routine by the Club
professionals, Fran and Bruce
Brady, in fast dance numbers and
slower tempos was much enjoyed
by the audience as well as the
skaters.
The Ice Carnival is presented
for the pleasure of the community
and is the Club's way of sharing
the work being done in the area of
figure skating.
Following the finale by the
entire cast and the pros, little
Tracey Wallis and Andrew Bullen
presented gifts from the Club to
Mr. and Mrs. Brady,
Mrs. Lorna Merrier won the
draw for the electric blanket and
Mary Rathwell was the winner of a
$10 voucher for skating
equipment.
The skaters,who performed in
the, production included coach
Danielle Simons as Alice; coach
Shirley McFadden as the White
Rabbit; coach Nancy Graham as

and Tracey Wallis. Chessmen

Bullen, Edward Bullen, John
McLeod, Joanne Mackie, Joanne
chainart,,grAy, Cluff and Wendy
