Mustangs
ousted by
Exeter
BY BERT CLIFFORCI
After eveningtheOHA Western
Junior playoff series at one .game
each, Clinton dropped behind
Exeter Hawks when the Hawks
won two straight games,
hi Exeter Tuesday night, the
Mustangs couldn't get rolling late
-in the game giving Exeter a 64
win. The first period was fairly
even with Exeter picking up the
games first goal at 9;40, Steve
Morley was the scorer and before
the night was over he put in four
straight goals.
Exeter outshot Clinton 9-7 in
the opening period and goalie
Fred German came up with some
great saves. Centreman John
McKinley finished off a great play
set up by Paul Johnson for
Clinton's lone goal at 17:36, Steve
Morley put the game away for
Exeter with two quick long shots,
the first at the 50-second mark
and the second at 1:22.
Although the Mustangs outshot
Exeter 12-10 over the remainder
of the period, they couldn't beat
Hayter and they missed several
Sure goals with erratic shooting.
The Mustangs big line of Mustard,
Stirling and Graham were
checked hard all night and all
three players picked up bruises
from the bard pounding.
In the third period, Exeter
came up with all the breaks,
German had made two saves, only
to have the puck dribble in both
times for Exeter goals, Poor
defensive clearing set up Larry
Haugh's goal at 8:16 for Exeter's
fifth goal. Playing before the
largest crowd ever to attend a.
match in the new Community
Centre didn't help the Mustangs
on Friday night. Five goals in the
first period gave Exeter a
comfortable lead.
They added three more in the
second period, then the teams
traded a goal apiece in the third
period. Four of the first five goals
went in on deflections and seemed
to shake the teams morale, Dave
Slade replaced German in the
third period and the defence
tightened up in front of him, Dave
came up with some great saves to
help finish off' the game in a
brighter note.
Mark Jenkins - tallied for
Clinton at 11:52 to break the shut-
out bid by John Hayter' who.
although not busy, had to come up
with some gteatsaves earlyin the
game.

gift from Herman's Men's Wear
for his outstanding play during the
month of January. Making the
presentation was Don Kay, past
chairman of the Clinton
Recreation Committee,
The three winners of the

We made our float out of paper

Eskimos kissing. Then we put on
the final touches.
Then it came Saturday. What
fun we had waving and then when
we came back to the school, our
