Open House was held Jan. 16

and Mrs. John Pym of RR 3,
Exeter, in honor of ,their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pym's '15th
wedding anniversary. Over 60
relatives and friends turned out in
spite of the weather conditions to
congratulate the couple. Several
phone calls were received front
people who could not be present.
Mr. and Mrs. Pym were
married in January 1927 by Rev.
Duncan McTavish at James Street
Parsonage in Exeter, and resided
on their son's farm at RR 3,
Exeter. Upon retiring they came
to Hensall three year's ago and
now reside in the "Maples."
The Pyms have two daughters,
(Nona) Mrs. Tony Shulman,
Embro, and (Lois) Mrs. Allan
Wanner, Sarnia; one son, John of
RR 3, Exeter; and 12
grandchildren.
HENSALL WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
For the January meeting of
Hensall Women's Institute, a tour
of Boise Cascade was arranged.
About 20 members and friends
enjoyed a tour' of the plant too,
conducted by Mr, Claus Van
Wieran who was very informative
about each stage of the

Several reports were given on
the progress of the making of the
new drapes and sanding of the
floor at the hall and the Christmas
gifts for shut-ins and the
residents at the Seaforth Manor,
Thirteen members were
presented with perfect attendance

.We are pleased to report that
Kevin Jewitt was transferred on
Thursday to Seaforth Community
Hospital from Victoria Hospital
London, he is improving more
every day. We hope he will soon be
feeling in the best of health again.

OBITUARY
Janet May McNaughton passed
away at Heimstra Nursing Home,
Listowel, on Jan. 16, 1972, in her
84th year'.
Miss McNaughton was horn and
raised in Hibbert township near
Chiselhurst, and later moved to
Toronto where she worked as a
stenographer in an accountant's
office for a number of years, Upon
retiring, sire moved to 296 Queens
Avenue, London. In May of 1971,
she was moved to the Heimstra
Nursing Home in Listowel where
she passed away. •
Surviving are one brother,
Peter.L. McNaughton of Hensall,
and severalmieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one
brother, Lorne, and one sister,
Gretta.
The funeral was held from the
Bonthron Funeral Chapel,
Hensall, on January 18,1972, with
Rev. Don Beck officiating.
Interment wag made in Hensall
Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bert Horton,
Ed Corbett!, Wayne Corbett,
Robert McNairgliton and Bruce
Horton.
KINETTE CLUB MEETING
The Kinette Club of Hensall
held their Jan. 12 meeting at the
home of Mrs. Marg Knight. Guest
for the evening was Sharon
Brokenshire. Donations were
made to the Salvation Army and to
the Hensall Minor Athletic
Association. Letters were
received from the two foster
children in Italy that the club
sponsor.. The raffle was won by
Mrs. Ann Maxwell.
Susan Luther' was successful in
passing her Grade 2 Theory from
the Royal Conservatory of Music
with honors. Susan is a pupil of
Miss Greta Laramie and the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric
Luther.
Mr. Art Hallam is a patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
where he underwent surgery on
Monday of this week,
MESSENGERS
Hensall United Church
Messengers held their January
meeting on Monday after school.
The meeting opened with
everyone listening to the record
on Africa after which the
Messenger Motto was repeated in
unison.
Leader Mrs, Shirley
McAllister told the Bible Story
called "The Broken Window"
using scripture verse from
Romans 13 verse 13—"We must
be honest and true."
Offering was taken by Randy
Parker and the offering prayer
repeated,
Leader Mrs. Joyce Pepper
introduced another country of
Africa—Congo and much
discussion was given to the
customs, food, dwellings,
celebrations. We learned that
their schools are run by the
Church and that the world's
smallest people (Pygmies) and
the tallest (Batutsi) live in this
country of jungle, lakes and
mountains and the great Congo
River.
A story "Three New Friends"
was read, It told of a little African
girl who was sick in hospital and
of the two little friends she made
while there.
Meeting closed with prayer by
Laurie Pepper.
The Clinton Chapter of Beta
Sigma Phi held its regular
meeting on Jan. 11 at the Credit
Union building. The opening
ritual was ,repeated followed by
the roll, minutes,
communications and treasurer's
reports.
