Among the topics for discussion were initial plans for the anticipated Federal Election this year. It was decided to make contacts with the Riding Associations in Middlesex North and Huron-Bruce to establish a Steering Committee for the combined. Federal Riding of Huron. Initial contacts will be made to potential candidates. In other business, the 1972 membership drive for the Provincial Riding was discussed. A goal of an additional 50% in new members was established. The programme for the drive will be under the direction of David Weary, Goderich, who hopes to wind up the membership drive in approximately eight weeks with a dinner meeting with guests from the Provincial NDP Caucus. The Adult Fellowship Group of the Hensall United Church have planned a Bowling Party for Saturday evening,. Jan. 15. Everyone is to meet at the Church at 8:30 to arrange transportation. The group will again meet at the Church after bowling for refreshments. All members of the Congregation are urged to attend ,this event if possible. Ray Consitt was the lucky winner of an Electric Heater in the Christmas draw held at Fink Plumbing and Heating. Michael Hoy was the recipient of a $100 Bursary Award given by the County of Huron. Michael is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoy, and is attending his second year at University Waterloo, where he is majoring in English. Mrs. Donald Beck had the misfortune to fall down some steps in her home and break her ankle. The Ontario Rodeo Association Banquet, held at Kitchener, on Jan. 8, again presented Hensall's Barry ' Mousseau with the Saddle Bronc Champ Award, for Ontario for 1971, for the second year in a row. Barry also was runner-up for the all-round cowboy of the year. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mason of Dashwood, visited with Mrs. Bertha Jinks Saturday of last week. Mrs. Jinks makes her home with Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schwalm and family of Stratford, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm. SALVATION ARMY LEAGUE OF MERCY Mrs. Luther is pleased to report that, as a result of generous donations to the Salvation Army by a number of local residents and business establishments, the League of Mercy was able to continue their programme of distributing treats to area shut-ins and providing assistance in a very practical way to others during Christmas. The following ladies met at Mrs. Luther's home to assist in packaging 190 Sunshine Bags: Mys. Gladys Mitchell, Mrs. Polly McMurtrie, Mrs. Edna Paterson and Mrs. Eva Thompson. These treats were delivered to the South Huron Hospital and the following homes and institutions; Braemor Manor Nursing Home, Wilhelm Residential Home, Davis Nursing Home, Queensway Nursing Home and the Blue Water Rest Home. Mrs. Luther wishes to thank all those who assisted in this programme by their donations or their actual participation. HENSALL UNITED CHURCH MEETING OF UNIT 2 Unit 2 held the first meeting of the new year on Monday evening. Hensall WHITEOAKS OF JALNA' Christmas draw •winners announced who has expressed the desire for a return visit to Huron County this year. The Secretary, Shirley Dodds, Goderich, was authorized to contact several members who are to be requested to sit on proposed committees to study Policy and Agricultural problems. Riding President, Shirley Weary, Goderich, cited the success of the first Christmas social as grounds to consider similar activities at some future date. Preliminary enquiries about a social evening in Zurich or Exeter are to be made. In a discussion of other activities, Riding Vice-President, Herb Klopp, Zurich, suggested that, planning for educational activities might form one portion of the next meeting which is scheduled for February 9. In a recent draw sponsored by the Ladies Legion Auxiliary, the money doll was won by Mrs. Bessie Black of Clinton. It was decided to have the annual Easter Basket draw in March, with the proceeds going towards the Crippled children, The mystery prize was won by Mrs. Gordon Munn; attendance prize, Mrs. Jim Randall; guessing prize, Mrs, Aldan Vanstone. Mrs. Clarence Reid, Sports Officer, gave her report and announced that there will be a Bowling tournament coming up in the near future. There will be a Lone Card Party, to be held in Clinton Legion Hall, Jan, 12. UNIT IV HENSALL U.C.W. CHURCH MEETING Unit IV of Hensel] U.C.W. met on Thursday afternoon with Mrs. J. McAllister presiding. The devotional was given by Mrs. W. Dilling with the theme being "Time". Mrs. C. Britton introduced the new study book for this year on Africa. A reading, "A deck of cards", and a poem "One little rose", was given by Mrs. Riley. Members were reminded of. the Annual Congregational Meeting to be held on Jan. 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a pot luck supper. Unit IV are to be responsible to entertain the residents of the Queensway Nursing Horne for the month of January. AMBER REBEKAH LODGE MEETING AND EUCHRE The regular meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge was held on Wednesday evening with a good attendance. N. G. Mrs. Dorothy Beaton presided and was assisted by V. G. Mrs. Olga Ch ipchase. Plans were made for entertainment at the next meeting of Jan. 19, for Friendship Night to exchange gifts among Secret Pals. The losing side to be responsible for the programme. Plans were made for a banquet to be held, on the visit of the Assembly President, Feb, 2. Tickets will be available to members. It was reported that Mrs. Evelyn McBeath is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, and that a plant was to be sent to her from the Lodge.
