Christmas decorations, like a
welcome sign with Rudolph on it,
just to be nice.”

“I would get my mom a Santa hat
because I think she should have one
because they make me think she’s
Santa. I would get my dad a reindeer
hat, then my mom would be the boss
of him.”

“I would get them a picture book,
because you can draw words and
make them into a picture in the
book, and I would get them a teddy
bear.”

“I would get my mom a laptop
because she’s always wanted one
and I would get my dad a red CD
player because red is his favourite
colour.”

“I would get my parents an iPad,
because they like them because they
can teach me math with it and do
stuff on their own. I would get them
a picture of art too.”

“I would get my mom a shiny ring
with a diamond because my mom
likes diamonds. I would get her a
kitchen table with my dad, and I

because he likes to wear it.

keep breaking.”

broken, and a Wii because ours is

dad a new snowblower because he

mom a cookie maker because she
has a shop in the backyard where
she makes cookies.”

Giving for their parents
Blyth Public School’s Grade 1 Class got to imagine they were magic for a second and asked
what they would give their parents if they could give them anything. The answers run the
gamut from the practical to the fanciful, and from the realistic to the hopeful. Shown are back
