Manufacturing Awards
held in Brussels Arena
What a beautiful week it has beenfor the second week of November.Farming activities have slowed right
down with very little action in the
fields. A lot of fields of brown
ground in a row, interrupted by fields
of green wheat and very few farmers
still working ground.
The deer population is down
another one this week with another
McDonald vehicle coming into
contact with “Bambi”. That makes
three, so hopefully that’s the end. I
have heard of some others hitting
deer, and the police report it is a
constant call for them.
Spending a wonderful weekend
away were the Bremner boys plus
Chris Lee. They travelled to their
cabin that is east of Orillia near
Washago. The Bremner boys include
Robert, Murray, Jerry, Doug, Shawn
and Barry. Chris Lee was invited by
one brother, another brother heard
from his mother from another source
he was invited, another brother
thought the first brother was picking
him up, and then the second brother
made the call to get Chris. All
because of a casual conversationwith mother Fran, Chris made theweekend. One of those funny mix-ups between brothers but ended upalright. The weather was fantasticand the men all had a great timetrying to figure out “the source” thatmade everything work out.Congratulations to first-timegrandparents Randy and DonnaWhite. They are very excited towelcome granddaughter Lila to thefamily. Proud parents are Nicole andMark Olson and they are delightedwith Lila’s arrival. Neil and Ruth
Olson of Belgrave are also delighted
with a new granddaughter.
Get-well wishes go to Bob
Alexander, who has had a hip
replacement and should be home
now. We hope Ria Vandenbroek is
coming along well following her
surgery in London. She is still a
patient there at this time. Murray
Lowe is home and is now out and
about. Walking is his therapy and he
is doing very well. Standing and
cutting hair is not allowed, so don’t
expect him back behind the barber
chair for quite a while. Marie
McTaggart is still a patient in
Seaforth Hospital. Anne Bosman is
back to work part time and is feeling
some better.
Neil and Marie McGavin spent a
couple of days at the Royal Winter
Fair in Toronto. They also went to
visit with Bill and Liz Dinsmore and
enjoy dinner together. Liz is Neil’s
sister.

to the District PRO Chairman. I was
pleased to have John present the first
place plaque for “District C”, E
class. The surprise was that the book
went on to provincial judging and I
was awarded first place in Ontario
for class E. Comrade John presented
the plaque to a very surprised
Jo-Ann. Every year I have tried
to improve the scrapbook and when
the book returned to the Branch in
early October, I thought the marks
were too low (mid 80s) to have
advanced. Surprise! There were
many folks that knew of the success
and managed to keep it a complete
surprise.
Our condolences are expressed to
the family of Bob Marks. The
funeral luncheon was held at the
Branch on Wednesday afternoon.
Comrades helping the Branch
included Linda Bird, Lisa Glanville,
Sandra Josling and Mary Bradshaw.
Deb Cann and Jo-Ann McDonald
helped in preparations.
There was no Thursday night dart
league this past week, but it will
return this week at the usual time of
8 p.m.
The Friday night supper of roast
beef was well attended with over 50
attending. The roast beef was sold
out, so some folks enjoyed ham
instead. This week will be breaded
pork schnitzel.
There were seven-and-a-half
tables of euchre players on Saturday
afternoon at the Branch. Winners
were: first, Deanna and George
Bacon, 70 points; tied second, Stuart
and Lois Chamney and Frank and
Betty, 69 points; low, Doreen and
Marjorie, 40 points; lone hand, Tom
Sloan and Fay Albert.
