Ross Cecil Eckmier of London,
“graduated to Glory” peacefully, at
Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, Oct.
26, 2010. He was in his 79th year.
He was the loving husband to
Clara May (Freeman) for over 45
years. Ross was the beloved son of
the late Edna and Cecil Eckmier and
dear brother of Bill, Ronald (Jean),
Isabel (Tom) Sawchyn and the late
Marie (Delmer) Buchanan.
Ross will be lovingly remembered
by his goddaughter Nancy (Randy)
McWebb, niece Nancy and nephews
Paul, Bradley, David, Gary, Larry
and Bob. He will be dearly missed
by his best friend Farley and will
also be remembered by many good
friends.
Ross was treasurer for 23 years
and Deacon for 40 years at Egerton
Street Baptist Church.
Visitation was held at the Evans
Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Rd.,
London on Oct. 28 from 2 - 4 and 7
- 9 p.m. and Oct. 29 from 10 - 11
a.m.
Funeral service was held in the
Evans Chapel on Friday, Oct. 29 at
11 a.m. Pastor David Snihur
officiated. Interment was in
Woodland Cemetery.
Donations to Egerton Street
Baptist Church would be
appreciated.

HENRY F. EXEL
Mr. Henry Exel of Brussels, went
home to be with the Lord on Sunday,
Oct. 31, 2010. He was 72 years old.
Henry was born on Dec. 31, 1937 in
Lemeleveld, the Netherlands. He
immigrated with his family to
Canada when he was 11.
Brussels was home to Henry for
60 years. After completing Grade
10, he began his carpentry career. In
1975, Henry bought his father’s
construction business and began
Henry F. Exel Construction.
Henry married his beloved wife
Margaret (Haasnoot) on May 30,
1964 and they enjoyed 46 years
together. They have six children,
Kimberley Exel and friend Gene of
Mississippi, Sharon Good of
Brussels, Nancy and Henry
Lammers of Burlington, Gerry and
Brenda Exel of Brussels, Malinda
Exel of Brussels and Eileen Exel of
London. He was adored by 11
grandchildren and one great-
grandchild. He will also be missed
by brothers, sisters and many
nephews and nieces.
Henry was a man of integrity and
will be remembered for his kind,
gentle spirit and strong faith in God.
He was an active member of Blyth
Christian Reformed Church and the
Men of Note Choir in Clinton. He
loved his community and was
involved in the Brussels Lions Club,
served on the Board of Directors for
Habitat for Humanity and served as
a trustee of the Brussels Trust Fund.
He was happiest when he was using
his talents to help others.
A celebration of Henry’s life was
held at the Blyth Christian Reformed
Church on Friday, Nov. 5. Interment
was at Brussels Cemetery.

that Henry was very excited

ROBERT MARKS
Robert R. Marks, formerly of
Belgrave, passed away on Saturday,
Nov. 6, 2010 at Wingham and
District Hospital. Born in Morris
Township on Jan. 15, 1941, Robert
was in his 70th year.
Robert was the beloved husband
of Agnes Riley and dear father of
Tracey and Eric Cook of Blyth,
Rolynda and John Bjerg of Belgrave,
Bobbie Jo and Mark Hubert of
Vanastra, Tara and Craig Anderson
of Mississauga, Terry and Jen Marks
of Hamilton and Bobby Lynn Marks
of Haileybury and the dear brother
of Shirley and Bob Hopper of
Brussels and Helen and Bev Wallace
of Londesborough. He was also
loved by his grandchildren Amanda,
Tasha, Ashley, Mitchell, Hayden,
Elisha, Jase, Taylor, Megan,
Caleb, Raven, Kyle, Kaydin and
Lexy.
He was predeceased by his
grandson Gabriel, his sister Agnes
Carter and parents Rollie and Clara
Marks.
Friends were received by the
family two hours prior to the funeral
service conducted on Wednesday,
Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Schimanski
Family Funeral Home. Pastor Les
Cook officiated.
Cremation followed with
interment at Brussels Cemetery at a
later date.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
the Canadian Cancer Society or the
Wingham and District Hospital
Foundation.

ROBERT STRATTON NESBITT
Robert Stratton Nesbitt of
Wingham, passed away at Wingham
and District Hospital on Monday,
Nov. 8, 2010. He was 76.
He will be lovingly remembered
by his daughter Nancy Nesbitt and
Shawn Dixon of Lucknow and
Nancy’s mother Brenda Munro of
Turnberry Estates, Wingham. He
was the grandfather of Alexandra
Martellacci and her daughter Addy
of Kitchener, the brother of Floyd
Nesbitt of Brussels, Carl and Lena
Nesbitt of Blyth, Donna and Ross
Jacklin of Hespler, Bonnie and Loris
Savegnago of Beamsville, Rick
Weatherhead of Alberta, Pat and
Bruce Schoenhals of Clinton and
Bill Scotchmeir of Hensall. He was
the brother-in-law of Mildred
Nesbitt of Wingham. He was
predeceased by his parents John and
Pearl (Bell) Nesbitt, his sister Vivian
Charles, brother Douglas Nesbitt
and his stepfather Dick
Weatherhead.
Visitation was held at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham, on
Tuesday from 7 - 9 p.m.
Funeral service was held at the
funeral home chapel on Wednesday,
Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. Interment was in
Blyth Union Cemetery, Blyth.
Memorial donations to Wingham
and District Hospital Foundation
would be appreciated as expressions

ROMAN STURZENEGGER
Roman Sturzenegger of Auburn
passed away tragically on Sunday,
Oct. 31, 2010. He was in his 21st
year.
Roman was the beloved son of
Hans and Trudy Sturzenegger of
Auburn, cherished brother of Martin,
Angelika, Erika and Andrea. He was
the dear grandson of Ueli and
Margrit Sturzenegger and Hans and
Bertha Braegger, all of Switzerland.
He will also be missed by many
aunts, uncles and cousins in
Switzerland. Roman is saldy missed
by his girlfriend Stephanie Devries
and his many friends, especially
Nathan, Kyle and Jack. Roman will
be missed by everyone he knew.
Family and friends were received
at Blyth Visitation Centre of the
Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., 407
Queen St., Blyth on Wednesday,
Nov. 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A
celebration of Roman’s life took
place on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m.
at the Blyth United Church with Rev.
Gary Clark and Rev. Paul Ross
officiating. Interment was in Ball’s
Cemetery, Hullett Twp.
Memorial donations to the Kids’
Booster Club or Knox United
Church, Auburn would be
appreciated as expressions of
