The Citizen, 2010-10-21, Page 2PAGE 2. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2010.
We have half of October spent.
With Thanksgiving and leaf raking,
crop harvesting and winter
preparation, attending autumn
dinners and fall fairs, the time just
whizzes by. And of course, we’re not
done yet – the folks at Ethel United
invite you to a turkey dinner on
Sunday, Oct. 24. You can eat at
either 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. to enjoy their
Harvest Supper, just get the proper
ticket and I’m sure you’ll not be
disappointed.
Hello from Jeff Boynton. His
acreage outside High River has a
great view of the Rockies and with
Nicole and the girls, he’s pretty
happy to call it home. Ralph and I
had a small visit with him when we
were checking the relatives in
Alberta. I like place names, turning
onto Tongue Creek Road until you
get to Hog Back Line made it fun to
find Jeff’s place. Brother Clif and
family are well and enjoyed some
very fine weather when we were
there. Son Phil was in Edmonton
on some practise runs as a
paramedic, so it let us catch up more
and drive less. Everyone was happy
and their snow came just after we
left.
The Culture Club was looking
good on Saturday. The partners were
invited to join them for breakfast in
Listowel, a treat of Ruth and Neil
Schade. When 18 people try to chat
around a table it gets quite
interesting. Thanks Neil.
Jeanette Boynton was in the
village on Saturday. It was a
beautiful day for a drive and as
always it’s good to see old friends.
Three witches from Brussels went
haunting on Saturday night. The
moon was bright, their brooms ready
and the weather perfect for flying, so
they took off and landed in Blyth.
The Witches Walk was a great place
for them to congregate and share
their wisdom with the many visitors
who enjoyed the event along the
Greenway Trail. They were able to
inspect several Brussels folk along
the trail and report everyone having
a good time.
Cold season is here so get out your
preventative measures and start to
practise. Sneeze in your sleeve.
Wash your hands while you sing
a ditty. Eat properly. Rest well.
Stay home when you’re sick. Your
mother told you all that now just do
it.
Enjoy the last days of October and
celebrate 25 years of The Citizen.
Bye now, G.W.

Comrade Wanda Walker is
working hard at making the bus trip
to the Brantford Casino a success,
but we need folks to sign up. I’m
sure there are enough Brussels and
area folks out there who would enjoy
a day away, so call and speak to
Wanda as soon as possible. If there
are not enough Brussels folks, we
would invite another Branch to join
us. Ask a friend or another couple to
come along. You do not have to be aLegion member, everyone iswelcome to join us on Nov. 17.Come one, come all and bring along
your luck!
