It has been a beautiful week of
weather with lots happening on the
farm. The soybean harvest continues
and some farmers have started the
grain corn. The sweet smell of
farming permeates the air as the job
of spreading manure is just one of
the jobs getting done. Those in the
tile business are busy trying to get all
their customers looked after between
the rains. Acres of wheat are being
planted and even ploughing is being
done already. You never know which
piece of farm machinery you will
meet on the road. Be watchful and
wary, especially at night, as farmers
are sometimes having a long day.
There was a good turnout for the
buck and doe of Ben Finlayson and
Charlene Thompson on the weekend
at Seaforth. Congratulations on their
upcoming wedding.
The members of the Duff’s United
Church supper committee met to
organize the annual turkey supper onWednesday evening. Members of thecommittee discussed any changesand the menu. All members of theChurch will be contacted regardingfood and work schedules. Ournumbers are getting fewer, somembers are all reminded to cleartheir schedules, if possible, to helpon both Tuesday and Wednesdayafternoons. Another reminder to take
note of is that when the supper is
over at 7 p.m., the cleanup needs
many hands to be accomplished.
Many dishes need to be done and put
away, items need to be returned to
Walton Church and the Hall needs to
be returned to its normal setting. If
everyone can stay around to help, the
work can be accomplished much
quicker.
The supper committee is looking
for a new convener with the
resignation of Helen Craig. Helen
will work alongside her replacement
for the turkey supper and be
available with helpful advice for
anyone interested in taking the
position. Contact Helen or Karen
Hoegy for more information.

Returning from a great holiday to
the south is the Jeff and Erin
Robinson family. The family flew to
the famous Disney World in
Orlando, Florida for a week’s stay. They stayed at the Saratoga SpringsResort and it was wonderful. A greattime to go price-wise and crowd-wise, but it was hot, hot, hot. Thetemperatures were 33 degrees everyday with the humidex in the 40s. Itdidn’t bother the girls, Grace, Emmaand Ava, but mom reports that by theend of the day, the adults werefading. The kids tell me they had lots
of fun and had a blast. Grace and
Emma were thrilled with the
different roller coaster rides of Space
Mountain, Mount Everest and the
Tower of Terror, not phasing them a
bit, and even riding them again.
They spent almost every day at one
of the many different parks including
Disney Hollywood Studios, Magic
Kingdom, Epcot Center and Animal
Kingdom. It was an amazing trip and
the two older girls were excited
telling their friends and me about
their trip and their new princess
dresses, stuffed turtle and stickers.
Welcome back to the Robinsons.
Our get-well wishes go to Dorothy
McNichol who suffered a fall. She
spent a week in hospital and is now
home recovering.
Doreen Hackwell has also been
sent home from hospital after her
knee surgery. She is coming along
slowly, but is lucky to have son
Blaine home for this first week of
recuperation. Our get-well wishes go
to Doreen.

The ownerof the colt is Anne Shunock ofDorchester and she is very pleased
with the early promise shown by the
