Your local newspaper
Continued from page 3
scripture was from Mark 10: 13-16
read by Lavern Clark. The children
were asked to come to the front for
their story time.
Rev. Clark asked how we know
that Jesus is here? There were lots of
answers.
We should show that we love one
another. He then asked them to tell
how their parents show their love for
them. Some ways were to look after
them when they are sick. Take them
to parks to play and watch over them
while they play. There were many
other answers. Rev. Clark told the
kids that they should tell the adults
how they can love them and also that
the parents should listen.
Rev. Clark led everyone in prayer
and the children went downstairs for
their time at Sunday School. Reid
Button carried the Christ Candle
down to Sunday School. The choir
sang the anthem, “Lord Be With Us
On This Day.” Rev. Clark’s message
to the adults was “Let the Children
Come to Me”. Rev. Clark told the
congregation that on Sept. 22 there
were only 100 days left until the end
of the year. We have less than 100
days to complete the New Year’s
Resolutions.
In the scriptures Jesus rebukes His
disciples for not letting the children
to come to Him. Jesus tells them
“Whosoever shall not receive the
Kingdom of God as a little child, he
shall not enter therein.” The
congregation plays a huge part of the
life of the children. The children are
wearing name tags so we can call
them by name. In the past, the
congregation is responsible for the
lack of children in the church by not
making them welcome. We should
pray with our children. The church is
changing and so are the children.
The only time we seem to talk about
the church is when there is conflict.
The children never hear of the good
times the church has had. God is
always there for us. God will be with
us always.
The next hymn, “Fairest Lord
Jesus” was followed by the receiving
of the offering, the offering hymn,
the offertory prayer, the prayers for
the world and the singing of The
Lord’s Prayer. The last hymn, “This
is God’s Wondrous World” was
followed by the commissioning,
benediction and the singing of the
Choral Response “Go Now In
Peace”. Everyone was invited to stay
for coffee.
Pray with your children: Clark
