Youth between the ages of 12 and 18 are welcome to come out and see what Cadets are all about. Meetings start at 7 p.m. The senior group of Cadets along with Officer Capt. Miller held an orienteering day at the Branch on Saturday. They discussed teaching methods, communication skills and went to the Conservation area for an afternoon outing. A lunch of pizza was enjoyed by all. The Saturday afternoon euchre had 10 tables of players hoping to be winners. Winners were: first, Ed and Marie Stewart, 78 points; second, Tom and Eileen Sloan, 74 points; third, Deanna and George Bacon, 71 points; low prize, Stuart and Lois Chamney, 47 points; men’s lone hand, John Subject with six; ladies’ lone hand, Joann MacDonald with four. The Sunday night dance had the Red Rascal Band entertaining the great crowd of over 90 for the evening. They enjoyed the return of the Rascal Band for the first time in many months. We hope to have them back more often. Hopefully by the time you read the paper the Brussels Legion Elimination draw tickets will be sold out. There is $3,300 to be won and 25 per cent of the proceeds are being donated to the Brussels Optimist Ball Park Renovation Fund. If any tickets are remaining, call the Branch if you would like one. The draw begins at 6 p.m. The sign-up sheets for the Brussels Legion-sponsored Brantford Casino trip are at the Branch and at Georgeto Jo-Ann’s Hairstyling. People needto sign up early as there are only 50 seats available. The cost is only $20 (you will receive a $10 play coupon) and more information is available by reading the many flyers and posters around town or by calling the Branch. Call a friend and make a day away on Nov. 17, leaving at 10 a.m. and home around 7 p.m. There is still time to call Comrade Mabel Glanville about an appointment with Provincial Service Officer Randy Groundwater. The Municipality of Huron East is hosting a free E-waste drop off day on Saturday, September 25 from 8 a.m. to noon. Huron East is pleased to support the depot, which will stockpile goods to be picked up by Stratford E-waste. E-waste is a label covering many brands of household electronics that are recyclable, including televisions, fax machines, stereo equipment and computers. Other goods that can be dropped off include answering machines, ATM machines, cameras, cellular phones, CB radios, Christmas lights, dental scrap, DVD players, eye glass frames, hair dryers, humidifiers, printers, small motors, toasters, traffic signals, X-Ray machines and many others. Large appliances will not be accepted. The Ethel euchre was held on Sept. 6 with seven tables in play. Winners were: share the wealth, Sharon Freeman and Margaret Peebles; ladies’high, Myrna Burnett and Viola Adams; men’s high, Jean Dewar and Helen Cullen; lone hands, Delphine Dewar, Ruth Ward, Judy Hahn and Adrian Verstoep; door prize, Wayne Ward and Marguerite Beirnes. Many lucky tally prizes were given out. Another good time was had at the Cranbrook Hall on Friday night, hosted by Leslie and Yvonne Knight. There were seven tables at play. Winners were: share the wealth, Leslie Knight and Viola Adams; travelling lone hand, Delphine Dewar; high lady, Judy Hahn; low lady, Shirley Verstoep; ladies’ lone hands, Leona McDonald, Viola Adams, Joyce Alexander and Yvonne Knight; men’s high, John Subject and Jean Dewar; men’s lone hand, Neil Hatt; tally winners, Iola Subject, Allan Edgar, Florence Holmes, Allan Martin, Marguerite Beirnes, Keith Turnbull, Myrna Burnett and Mary Davidson.
