The Brussels Cadet Corp 2967
met on Tuesday evening to start off
the year of Cadets. Cadets is for
young people between the ages of
12 and 18 who are looking for an
exciting and challenging way of
learning a vast array of activities.
They will learn discipline, drills,
responsibility, outdoor camping and
survival, protocol, how to take and
give orders and how to work
together as a team. They meet
Tuesday evenings at 8 p.m. and the
Corp has some excellent instructors.
Parents are invited to join the Parent
Support Committee who organize
fundraising activities for the Corp.
The monies raised help support the
Corp in extra training equipment as
well as working towards a year-end
trip. The Corp is open to both boys
and girl and welcomes interested
youth and parents to drop in any
Tuesday evening to find out more
information.
The early-bird winners for the
elimination draw were drawn on
Friday evening. Comrades Dianne
Machan, Catrina Josling and Jo-Ann
McDonald each made a draw. The
winners of $50 each are Sandra
Machan, Gord McLellan and Jean
Bridge. Congrats to them. The main

over 100 tickets remaining to be
sold. Pick your ticket up today.
We have two Comrades in hospital
at this time. We wish Helen Dobson
a complete recovery from her
shoulder surgery. We also have Cecil
Moore as a patient in Wingham
Hospital and wish him improved
health.
This is a reminder of the general
meeting is annual visitation by Zone
Commander. It is Sept. 28 at 8 p.m.
Comrade veterans wishing to see
Veteran’s Service Officer
Randy Groundwater, should contact
Mabel Glanville as soon as
possible.
The trip to the Brantford casino is
Nov. 17 and anyone wishing to go is
encouraged to sign up as soon as
they can. We need to have an idea if
there is enough interest from the
Brussels area or do we need to
combine with another Branch? We
need to have 50 interested folk. The
trip is from 10 a.m. until around 7
p.m. Call the Brussels Legion
Branch and drop in to reserve your
seat.
