Come see the “Cool Wheels”. 34-3 CONGRATULATIONS to Dave Huether (formerly of Brussels) and the Brampton Sports Unlimited Falcons 55+ Senior Ice Hockey Team who were Gold Medal Champions at the Canada Senior Games in Brockville, ON held from August 23 to August 28, 2010. Brampton had qualified for the National Championships in February of 2009 by winning the Ontario Senior Winter Games. Brampton defeated the Edmonton Vintage Blues by a score of 6-3 in the Canada Games championship final after knocking off the Estevan, Sask. Bruins by a 7-2 score in the semi-final game. Other competing teams included Yellowknife NWT, Calgary and the other Ontario representative, the York (Richmond Hill/Newmarket) club. There were about 2500 senior 55+ athletes in attendance for the opening and closing ceremonies at the St. Lawrence College Campus in Brockville and competing in all the track and field, badminton, tennis, etc. … summer sports and curling and ice hockey from the provincial winning winter sports. Brampton’s win marked the first time since the inception of the Canada Games that an Alberta team has not won the Gold Medal in 55+ ice hockey. The position is voluntary, but receives a small honorarium and expenses. The Library Board is responsible for the governance of the Huron County Library. It is composed of five members appointed from the community at large and six members appointed from Huron County Council. The Board works closely with Huron County Council, which provides most of the funding for the operations of the Library. The Huron County Library provides public library services to all residents of the County of Huron through twelve branch libraries located in towns and villages across the County. Meetings are usually held the third Wednesday of the month in the morning. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, Canadian citizens, and residents of Huron County.
