She was 88 years old. Marjorie was the loved wife of the late Edward East (2008). She was the beloved mother of Brenda Elliott (Bruce) and Karen Robertson (John), all of Guelph and proud grandmother of Jenny Elliott, Jim Elliott, Dan Elliott (Holly), Greg Elliott, Michael Robertson (Christa), Peter Robertson and Jeffery Robertson. Marjorie will be missed by her sister-in-law, Vera Hesselwood. She was predeceased by her brother, Roy McVittie and sisters, Roberta East (Bill) and Dorothy Roberts (Owen). Marjorie was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. A private service was held at the Gilchrist Chapel – McIntyre and Wilkie Funeral Home, Guelph on Friday, Aug. 20. Interment was at the Clinton Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. LOUISE “SHEILA” McCLELLAND Louise Sheila (Bignell) McClelland of Walton, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010. Born in Brampton on Oct. 19, 1947, Sheila was in her 63rd year. She was the beloved wife of Joe McClelland, loving mother of Mark and his wife Carol of Whitechurch and also loved by her grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Warren and his wife Shirley of Guelph, Wanda Carrick and husband John of Owen Sound and Terena Burton of Brampton, dear sister-in-law of Ellie Sanderson of Bancroft, Cathy and husband Louie of Gorrie and John and his wife Carol of Bolton. She was the dear daughter-in-law of William John McClelland. This loving auntie will be sadly missed by her several nieces and nephews as well as several great- nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Muriel Bignell and mother-in-law Frances McClelland. A private family visitation took place at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home followed by cremation. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be made at www.schimanskifamilyfuneral home.com Prescotts celebrate 50th wedding anniversary in BrusselsBrian and Sheila Prescott of RR3Brussels celebrated their 50thanniversary at the Brussels Legionon August 21 among family andfriends.Brian, son of Tom and Jane Prescott of RR3, Brussels, and Sheila, daughter of Joseph (Joe) and Annie Black of RR5, Brussels (Morris Township), currently live in Brussels. The couple was wed at Melville Presbyterian Church in Brussels on August 20, 1960 by Rev. Jonathan Greene. In attendance for the ceremony were best man Cyril Prescott, maid of honour Thelma McCurdy, bridesmaid Anne Ryan, junior bridesmaid Valerie Prescott, flower girl Linda Mair, ring bearer Bob Black, and ushers Eric Prescott and Wally Black. The couple honeymooned in Algonquin Park and Eastern Ontario. They settled in Kitchener, and then the Ottawa area. Brian was a mechanical engineer until 2000 when he retired, and Sheila was an elementary school teacher until her retirement in 1999. Brian and Sheila have four children; Mark of Ottawa, Paul andhis partner Daryll of Oakville, Peterand partner Susan of Burlington andDavid and partner Sara ofVancouver.The couple also has three grandchildren: Charlotte, Ben and Andy. Brian’s interests are singing, computers, building kayaks and canoes, sailing, being a member of the Lions Club, participating in the church choir and getting together with the Culture Club for breakfast every Monday. Shiela enjoys playing softball, being involved with children, dinners in Brussels, fall fairs (earlier in Riceville, now in Brussels), Melville Church and computers. Both enjoy spending time with their family, especially their grandchildren. Sixty-five guests came from near and far, including London, Chatham,Strathroy, New Hamburg, Clinton,Midland, Ottawa,Oakville, Burlington, Brockville and Vancouver to celebrate theevents. A come-and-go tea was held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dinner was served at 5:30 p.m. for special guests, and stories and memories were shared from the past fifty years. Entertainment came in the form of music, with the Prescotts’ children singing as a quartet, a solo by granddaughter Charlotte and a very special solo by Eric Prescott for Shiela. Presentations were made on behalf of the Governor General and the Prime Minister of Canada, and additional congratulations were received by Brian from the Prime Minister for his upcoming 75th birthday on September 30.
