Stratford extends runs of Kiss Me, Kate and EvitaThe Stratford ShakespeareFestival is extending the runs of KissMe, Kate and Evita, adding an extraweek to the 2010 season.Both musicals have been a hit withaudiences since previews began inthe early spring and tickets areselling quickly.
“It’s a wonderful endorsement of
the work we do to see such positive
response from every corner,” says
Artistic Director Des McAnuff.
“We’re thrilled to be extending our
season, providing theatre lovers with
even more opportunities to see thesetwo outstanding musicals.”These extensions have been madepossible thanks to funds provided tothe Festival through the MarqueeTourism Events Program, part of thefederal government’s EconomicAction Plan.
“The federal government has done
a great service to the arts in Canada
by introducing the Marquee funding
program,” says General Director
Antoni Cimolino. “In addition to
allowing us to augment our
marketing program, Marquee fundshave allowed us to extend the runs ofEvitaand Kiss Me, Kate. GLADYS SMITH
Gladys Smith of Brussels,
formerly of Wingham passed away
at Clinton Public Hospital on Friday,
July 2, 2010. She was 96.
The former Gladys Shaw was the
beloved wife of the late James
Albert Smith who predeceased her
in 1997. She was the dear mother of
Mary and Will Cummings of
Kingsville, Teresa and David Brown
of Ruthven, Margaret Smith of
London, James Smith of Kitchener
and Michael and Gail Smith of
Orono. She was the loving
grandmother of Daniel, Michael,
Robert and Douglas. She is also
survived by two great-
grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her
parents John and Elizabeth Shaw, an
infant son, two brothers and four
sisters.
A private funeral service was held
at McBurney Funeral Home Chapel
on Monday. Father K.P. Morrison
officiated. Interment was in
Wingham Cemetery, Wingham,
Ontario.
Memorial donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society would be
appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.

MARJORIE ELIZABETH
WALL
Mrs. Marjorie Elizabeth Wall of
Trillium Court, Kincardine,
formerly of Wingham passed away
at South Bruce Grey Health Centre,
Kincardine site on Wednesday, June
30, 2010. She was 89.
The former Marjorie Arthur was
the beloved wife of the late Gordon
Wall, who predeceased her in 2001.
She was the dear mother of David
Wall of Wingham; Marion and Eric
Hewitt and Janice and Ron Hewitt,
all of Kincardine Township; Doug
and Wilma Wall of Mississauga and
Brian and Shirley Ann Wall of
Walkerton.
She was the loving grandmother
of eight grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren, sister-in-law of
Bob David of Union and Len Conley
of St. Marys. She was predeceased
by her sister Ruth Davis, and
brothers Keith, Bob and Harry
Arthur.
Visitation was at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on July 1
from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9
p.m. The funeral service was held at
the funeral home chapel on July 2 at
11 a.m. Rev. Bernard Skelding
officiated.
Interment was in Culross-
Teeswater Cemetery, Culross
Township.
Memorial donations to St.
Andrew’s Presbyterian Church,
Wingham, would be appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.
