Six months from now, Christmas
will be done for this year. That little
fact is a touch shocking, but it makes
it a little easier to swallow that six
months of 2010 are over and done
with.
Brussels never looked so good. An
evening at the Goderich Co-op
Gallery and Elizabeth’s Art Gallery,
last Tuesday evening celebrated
Brussels. Music by Lyndon John X,
James Mintz and Jim Lee set a
relaxing tone as an ongoing
slideshow made us look pretty
impressive. Brussels businesses
were highlighted in various
mediums. Carolyn Parks-Mintz read
her stories from research in Brusselsand she made you chuckle, withstories about history and characters over the past. Huron East, along with Jan Hawley and the Economic Development Group, organized this fine and funevening. It was a great profile ofBrussels and we also got to admireall the art on display in the twogalleries on The Square in Goderich.
Well done.
The area schools held their
graduation ceremonies with proud
parents, excited teens and relieved
teachers all prepared to celebrate.
The next chapter of life begins now.
Life is so exciting.
The Sauve and Schade clans
celebrated at the Brussels Legion on
Saturday night. Ruth was being
honoured for putting up with the
whole crew for 90 years. Flowers,
balloons, friends, food and finally
fireworks finished two days of
celebrations marking 90 years of
Ruth’s life.
These occasions are always fun as
the stories of a lifetime get the
memories going. With a life asinteresting as Ruth’s, over her years, everyone had their own stories, some to share and some to guard. Itwas a great party to honour a niftylady. The rain held off, so the Brusselsdecoration service was held onSunday afternoon. Legion PresidentJohn Lowe and Pastor Sandra Cableled this time of remembering our
past, naming our friends, family and
comrades who died. Sitting quietly
under the mature trees in our
cemetery is an excellent spot to think
about the folks who made our
community what it is today. Our job
is to keep it good, ensuring that the
common areas that we share
are maintained for the next
generations.
Brussels college student Brianne
Wheeler, daughter of Gerald and
Brenda Wheeler achieved Academic
Honours during fall trimester at
Kimball Union Academy in New
Hampshire.
Celebrate Canada Day with gusto.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
