SELL? TRY CLASSIFIED The Walkerburn Club held its May meeting at the home of Vera Penfound with six members and one guest present. As the co-president of the day was unable to be present, Christena Gross opened the meeting with a poem, The Gardens. Vera Penfound led in prayer. As the secretary was absent, there were no minutes. Roll call was answered with,What we did for Easter. Ila Cunningham gave the treasurer’s report. The June meeting will be held at the home of Pat Hunking with president of the month, Dorothy Schneider in charge. Deanna Snell will provide the lunch and Eileen McClinchey the program. The group had a discussion regarding the fire service for the area and everyone was urged to attend the council meeting in Londesborough that evening. Christena Gross had a very interesting contest on Canada, and it appears members need to learn more about this great country of ours. Pat Hunking was a very capable auctioneer for the plant sale. After the grace was sung, a delicious cheery cheesecake provided by Dorothy Schneider was served by the hostess. A social half hour with friends and neighbours was enjoyed. Walkerburn Club talks fire service Cranbrook Euchre has 35 players Ethel Euchre night hosts 30. Next party, June 14 The Cranbrook hall was a very joyous place on Friday night for the euchre party which was hosted by Allan and Dorothy Martin. There were eight and three-quarters tables at play. Winners were: share the wealth, Jean Dewar and Isabelle Craig; travelling lone hand, Joan Jacobs; ladies’ high, Jean Dewar; second high, Helen Dobson; ladies’ lone hands, Helen Cullen and Delphine Dewar; men’s high, Neil Hatt; second high, John Subject; men’s lone hands, Judy Hahn, Leslie Knight and Florence Holmes; lucky tally winners, Myrna Burnett, Allan Edgar, Joyce Alexander, Neil Turnbull, Eileen Ament, Keith Turnbull, Shirley Verstoep, Adrian Verstoep, Isabelle Bremner and Grace Stewart. The next euchre will be held on Friday, June 18 at 8 p.m. The Ethel euchre was held on Monday, May 31 with seven-and-a- half tables in play.
