Born in Cottam, Ontario on July 22, 1923, Leona was in her 87th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Wilson Snyder (1977), dear mother of Donna Morton of Mitchell, Richard Snyder and his wife Marion of Moffatt, Debbie Macpherson of Guelph and Darlene Oldfield and her husband Jim of Brussels. She was also the dear sister of Ina and Ken Newman of Cottam and Gordon “Bud” and Lillian Ferriss of Maidstone. Leona was also loved by her 13 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Doug and wife Cathy, brother Melvin and son-in-law Everett. Friends were received from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home in Brussels. The funeral service was conducted from St. John’s Anglican Church in Brussels on Monday, May 31 at 12 p.m. Rev. Perry Chuipka officiated. Carrying floral tributes were Leona’s great-granddaughters Kaelan and Brittany Ruddick. Pallbearers were Matt Snyder, Brian Oldfield, Jason Macpherson, Glenn McLean, Jeff Snyder and Rick McLean. Interment was in Brussels Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, the Children’s Hospital of WesternOntario or the Canadian CancerSociety. On-line condolences may be made at: www.schimanskifamily funeralhome.com HAROLD ARTHUR STEWART Harold Arthur Stewart of Parkhill, formerly of Ingersoll passed away suddenly at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, after a long battle with heart disease on Sunday, May 23, 2010. He was in his 77th year. Harold was the beloved husband of the late Donna Cucksey (2007). He will be sadly missed by his four stepchildren Larry and Linda Elston of Parkhill, Jeffrey Cucksey (Luc Bedard) of Ottawa, Kenneth Cucksey of Wingham and Gregory Cucksey of Hickson. He was the grandfather to Melinda, Chrystal, Jennifer, Bridget, Jonathan, Becky and Michelle, great-grandfather to Ethan and Noah and brother of Douglas Stewart of St. John, New Brunswick; brother-in-law of Betty Mills of Lakeside and Marlene Davidson (Rick) of RR 4, Thedford. Harold also leaves behind his two furry companions Minnie and Tiger. Harold will be missed by many at the coffee shops where he felt he had several friends. He was very active with the Odd Fellows Lodge, Parkhill Lions Club, V.O.N. volunteer programs which included Chateau Gardens where he enjoyed many games of euchre. He also regularly volunteered at the area’s blood banks. Harold was predeceased by his precious mother Mary Shane and daughter-in-law Brenda Cucksey. Huron West WI Executive Announcements poured out of Auburn’s Community Hall on Monday, May 31 during a Women’s Institute meeting. The group was proud to announce another branch being opened under the umbrella of the Huron West District Women’s Institute in the Carlow area, and the Proposed Slate of Officers for 2010 was announced. Present were (from left): Past Provincial President, Joy Trimble; Public Relations Officer, Audrey Fenton; London Area President and Membership Co-ordinator for the Province, Debbie Bauer; Provincial Area Voting Delegate, Ruth Gourley; Huron West District President, Nancy Jardin; District Secretary Treasurer, Dorothy Coultes and Past President, Jean Fraser.
