Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending May
28 were 2,735 cattle, 809 lambs and
goats. On Tuesday fed steers and
heifers sold at $2 to $3 higher.
Choice steers and heifers sold $94 to
$96 with sales to $102.75. Second
cut sold $90 to $94. Cows sold fully
steady. On Thursday holstein veal
calves sold $5 higher while beef veal
calves sold $2 to $5 higher. Lambs,
sheep and goats sold under pressure.
On Friday calves and yearlings sold
on a steady market.
There were 165 steers on offer. Art
Bos of Blyth, consigned two steers
averaging 1,360 lbs. selling for an
average of $97.12 with one blonde
steer weighing 1,370 lbs. selling to
Norwich Packers for $100.50. John
Wiersma of Blyth, consigned ten
steers averaging 1,434 lbs. selling
for an average of $95.74 with two
limousin steers averaging 1,443 lbs.
