Entertainment Leisure&Award-winning Alzheimer filmmaker to visit Clinton
Forgetful Not Forgotten is a
documentary made by Canadian
filmmaker Chris Wynn that will be
shown at the Betty Cardno Center in
Clinton on June 7 at 7 p.m.
The documentary, which was
recognized with the Best
International Film at the Indie Spirit
Film Festival in Colorado Springs
and Best Documentary at the Indie
Gathering Film Festival in
Cleveland, focuses on the life of
Wynn’s father, John, as he struggles
with Alzheimer's Disease.
The film gives audiences a
window into the life of Wynn’s
family as they struggle with early-
onset Alzheimer’s in Wynn’s 57-
year old father.
Using new footage and clips from
old family movies, Wynn weaves
together a portrait of his father as the
man he knew and the man he was
becoming.
According to the film’s synopsis,
it documents the change in Wynn’s
family, going from wife and children
to caregivers, while at the same time
looking at the medical reality of
Alzheimer’s, looking at diagnostics,
prevention and Wynn’s own
concerns about the potentially
hereditary disease.
Originally produced for, and aired
on TVO in Ontario, the film is
making its way across Canada, with
Wynn showing it to different
Alzheimer’s Societies, including
nine societies across Ontario.
There will be a question-and-
answer period following the film.
Wynn received a diploma in
Photography at Algonquin College
in Ottawa, and began working on
commercials and music videos in
Toronto. Soon after he moved to the
post-production division of
cinematography.
Wynn moved to Montreal in 2002
and began documenting his father’s
struggles with Alzheimer’s.

film, as well as a community forum

Jacques Brel remembered at Stratford Festival show
The musical revue Jacques Brel Is
Alive and Well and Living in Paris,
began previews May 14 at the
Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s
Tom Patterson Theatre.
Jacques Brel features the talents of
Jewelle Blackman, Brent Carver,
Mike Nadajewski and Nathalie
Nadon. The four vocalists are
accompanied by a four-piece band
on the intimate Tom Patterson stage
in a production directed by Stafford
Arima, with musical direction by
Laura Burton.
Rick Fox, the Festival’s Director
of Music, has provided new musical
arrangements, reconnecting the
piece with its European roots. He is
joined on the creative team by
Designer Katherine Lubienski,
Lighting Designer Steven Hawkins
and Sound Designer Peter McBoyle,
with Musical Staging by Todd L.
Underwood.
“During challenging times, it’s
important to embrace the wisdom of
the poets,” says Artistic Director Des
McAnuff. “Jacques Brel fits into the
work we do here for that very
reason; these songs and this poetry
have proved to be universal and
timeless. It’s important we continue
to demonstrate that contemporary
poets and writers have a home here –
a home they
share with William Shakespeare and
the great playwrights from the ages.”
As a poet/singer-songwriter,
Brel’s compositions are honest
reflections of the human condition.
Often hailed as the European
counterpart to Bob Dylan he shares
his profound insight on themes of
love, life and death through the
haunting melodies and lyrics of his
work.
“We are very proud to have
Stafford and this extraordinary cast
create our first musical production at
the Tom Patterson Theatre,” says
General Director Antoni Cimolino.
“The scale of this moving musical
revue perfectly suits this intimate
Festival venue. It promises to be a
unique and, we hope, unforgettable
experience.”
The production conception,
English lyrics and additional
material for Jacques Brel Is Alive
and Well and Living in Paris are by
Eric Blau and Mort Shuman. The
show is based on Jacques Brel’s
lyrics and commentary with music
by Jacques Brel.
This production of Jacques Brel Is
Alive and Well and Living in
Paris marks the first time that a
musical production has been
produced at the Tom Patterson
Theatre. It is supported by Celebrate
Ontario.
