HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2010-05-27, Page 6PAGE 6. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, MAY 27, 2010.THE EDITOR,I wish to clarify the comments Imade when approached by the press
regarding fire services for the
Municipality of Morris-Turnberry.
Since the dissolution of the
previous Fire Board, our costs have
risen from $105,000 to $300,000.
We have a contract in place to pay
North Huron $205,000 and the
remainder of the costs are for fire
suppression from Howick Township
and Huron East (Brussels).
There are additional costs for fire
calls, additional equipment required
for fire suppression and fire
prevention services. We will not
know the final figure until year end.
We reduced the coverage area for
North Huron thinking that if they
had less area to cover, the charges
might be lower, but to no avail. However, the most important thingin this whole exercise is our people. They must have the most efficientand effective level of fire coverage. We have never had any complaints or problems with the performance orefficiency of the previous joint firedepartments (Blyth and Wingham). The concerns we have had are theincreased costs.Mayor Dorothy Kelly

PLAN NUMBER 7-3-977
THREE-BEDROOM CHARACTER HOME
This handsome three-bedroom character home, with an optional basement plan, includes an attached, above-ground in-
law or student suite with its own entry.
The entry to the main house, with its slanted board and batten cover, leads to a compact foyer that opens into the great
room. Natural light will flood through the large front window, which features an extra-deep sill, and the gas fireplace will cast
its cozy glow all the way to the eating bar, which divides the kitchen from the dining area.
The kitchen, with access to a covered patio, includes a roomy pantry. Access to both the double garage and the spacious
laundry room are nearby. The view from the double sinks looks into the dining/great room, so the cook will never feel
isolated.
Up the U-shaped staircase to the second floor, the master suite includes a soaker tub with a tiled surround and its own
window overlooking the back garden. The walk-in closet will provide plenty of room for clothing and accessories. Near the
room’s entrance is a linen closet.
The two secondary bedrooms share a three-piece bathroom and an adjacent linen closet. The third bedroom features an
extra-deep window sill.
The self-contained one-bedroom suite, located above the double garage, is reached by an outdoor flight of stairs at one
side. The open-plan living room is situated in the dormer area, with the dining area nearby.
The kitchen features a window over the double sink. Coat hooks on the wall opposite the entrance will maximize storage
space, as will the built-in shelves in the bathroom. Next to the three-piece bathroom is a washer and dryer.
The home’s exterior includes board-and-batten vertical siding, horizontal siding and brick accents, in addition to partly-
mullioned windows and painted trim.
The home measures 41 feet wide and 52 feet deep, for a total of 2,233 square feet, including the secondary suite, which
is 503 square feet. Ceilings are nine feet high throughout.
Plans for design 7-3-977 are available for $731(set of 5), $820 (set of 8) and $875 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents
add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $30.00 for Priority charge within B.C. or $50.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T.
or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and Priority charges.
Our 42ND Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 300 plans is available for $13.50 (includes taxes,
postage and handling). Make all cheques and money orders payable to "Home Plan of the Week" and mail to:
