From the Minister’s Study
Pastor Wood says farewell to flock
By Pastor Dave Wood
Huron Chapel Evangelical
Missionary Church, Auburn
Wow! It is hard to believe how fast
life flies by and here we are at the
threshold of an awesome adventure.
Actually, I think I am at a loss for
words.
I feel a bit like Abraham when he
was called to leave the village of
Haran and relocate to the land of
Canaan.
As of the end of this month we will
conclude our time at Huron Chapel
in Auburn. Eleven and a half years
have gone by and so many thoughts,
so many memories fill the mind as
we consider this time we have been
part of Huron County.
So many memories but of course,
the highlight of our journey has been
living in Blyth and the unmitigated
joy of having Frances Cook and
Annabelle Elliott as our most
bodacious neighbours. (Fran will
have to look that word up.) The
stories we could tell … the antics and
the times we had together will
always be precious in our memories.
(Really!) We have developed so
many great relationships and it is
very hard to pack up and say
goodbye.
And yet here we go as we make
our plans to head West and be part of
the adventure of grandparenting and
who knows what else!
For us, this is a faith journey and
the more we think about it the more
bizarre it seems, but we are
committed to this path and know that
just as God led Abraham into
the land of Canaan, He can direct
our paths in the land of Fort
McMurray.
You see, God is good all the time
and all the time God is good, we just
have to be willing to see it. I love the
promises of Jesus, who guarantees us
that He will never leave us nor
forsake us and the promises in Christ
are always “yes”.
It has been a privilege to be part of
Huron Chapel … by far the greatest
church in Canada and some of the
“bestest” people you could ever
meet.
We will miss so many and yet we
leave richer in the experiences and
lives we have been part of.
May His richest blessings be yours
as you continue to look to Jesus to be
the Author and Perfector of your
faith.
Fare thee well and God bless. (And
don’t let Fran know where we’re
moving too.) Shalom, Pastor Dave.
