Dolly and Kenny come to Blyth
By Brittany Nigh
As the warm weather strolls in,
many students and teachers alike at
St. Anne’s Catholic Secondary
School have been thinking of the
upcoming summer vacation. Of
course, before then there are plenty
of projects, tests, artistic activities
and sports to play, but the school
atmosphere has definitely livened in
the past weeks.
With the warm weather comes the
starting of many spring sports.
Soccer, rugby, and track and field
have all begun practices at St.
Anne’s. It’s not too late to sign up
though, check out the
announcements or speak to any of
the coaches to get more information
about try-outs. Hopefully, everyone
can take this opportunity to get
involved, as an athlete or a team
supporter.
After welcoming the boys’hockey
team back from OFSAA, we sent
our Drama Club off to Listowel for
the annual Sears Drama Festival.
The cast and crew with their
production of Centre Paige,which
was performed very well. In
addition, two individual awards were
received by St. Anne’s students for
Excellence in Acting.
Congratulations on an excellent end
to the production.
On Holy Thursday, the school was
able to come together in prayer for
the Easter season.
Over 650 food and hygiene items
were packed up and delivered to St.
Vincent de Paul by the students. We
thank everyone for their support of
the food drive.
The Grade 10 students contributed
the most items and will be given the
opportunity to travel to St. Vincent
de Paul in Toronto in April and
volunteer for an afternoon. This is
definitely an example of putting
faith into action.
Although everyone else was back
to school this week, the boys’
hockey team had some work of their
own in St. Catharines at the
provincial championships. They
represented the school well and
showed great Eagle’s Pride. The
boys are to be commended on an
awesome season.
After defeating Central Elgin, and
Goderich District Collegiate
Institute in the WOSSAA finals, the
boys’ hockey team were off to
OFSAA.
Friday, March 26 was a day for
students to swap the regular school
uniform for street clothes. For $2,
students were permitted to wear
purple to raise awareness and funds
for Epilepsy research. This was a fun
way to become more aware of a
condition which affects many people
in our communities.

A dynamic duo is teaming up to
visit the Blyth Festival Theatre;
tribute performers to Kenny Rogers
and Dolly Parton.
Internationally-known entertainers
Marty Edwards (Rogers) and Sherry
Gordon (Parton) will bring their
unique brand of tribute to the
Festival Theatre on Sunday, April 18

Rogers, who is best-known for his
fusion of country and pop-rock
music has been proven successful
the world over. Paired with Parton’s
curves, coiffure, and chart-topping
country songs, the show will offer
something for everyone.
The duo has their show on the road
right now, but have been found in
performing mainstays like Las Vegas
and Atlantic City. The pair has also
made impressions across the world

The United Kingdom.
Edwards’ vocal abilities and
resemblance to Rogers has earned
him recognition on Oprah, CNN and
the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
