The hiring of a new archives
research assistant was recommended
to be authorized by Huron County
council’s committee of the whole at
its March 17 meeting.
Because of a bylaw enacted by
Huron County council earlier this year,
any hiring for new positions needed to
be approved by council.
Beth Ross, director of cultural
services for Huron County proposed
the hire for the Huron County
Museum.
While the request for the position
was recommended, it was not
approved by all councillors as Huron
East mayor Joe Seili went on record as
saying that he did not support the
hiring of the new archives research
assistant.
Councillor Jim Ferguson mentioned
the meeting about the county’s
archives that was held in the fall and
inquired about the public’s level of
interest at that time. He said the
meeting was called by the public at the
time to develop more archival
resources within all of Huron County.
