Earlier in March The Kids For
Christ Program and the Youth Group
from the United Church in Belgrave
got together in an effort to help the
children in Haiti devastated by the
earthquake on Jan. 12, 2010.
A spaghetti dinner and silent auc-
tion were organized and presented
by the children on Friday, March 5
along with time for public skating at
the Belgrave arena. Over 150 people
attended the event from Belgrave,
Blyth, Wingham and the surround-
ing area with 72 items offered into
the auction. The night gave everyone
who attended the opportunity for
fun, food and fellowship.
Thank you very much to all those
people who attended, East
Wawanosh Public School, the
Belgrave Arena Board, all the local
businesses that donated items for the
auction and the volunteers who
made it happen. In the end, the chil-
dren raised over $4,000 and collect-
ed approximately 150 teddy bears.
Once the expenses are paid, a
cheque for over $3,400 along with
all the teddy bears will be sent to

On the hunt
Young scientific minds were on the prowl for answers last week at East Wawanosh Public
School’s science fair. One of the most ambitious projects was that of Lindsay Shiell, whose
project, Soil Comparison, took a look at different grades of soil and their benefits and draw-
backs. (Shawn Loughlin photo)
