This past week the Wingham
Golf and Curling Club wrapped up
most of the curling leagues for
another successful year.
The daytime curlers finished up
on Monday, March 29 and their
year-end banquet is on Tuesday,
April 13.
The Tuesday ladies winning
skips were Kelsie Eadie, Emily
Elston and Jill Eadie. Tuesday
night competitive action came to a
close with team Shawn Cottrill,
Matt Cottrill, Matt Hallahan and
Kyle Forster picking up the
championship trophy.
Wednesday mixed league
champs were Karen and John
Dailleboust, Joan and Scott Bridge
and Cathy Skinn.
Thursday family skips curling to
wins were Bill McDonald, Mike
Cottrill, Elli Schimanski and Kyle
Forster.
The Belgrave mixed winners
were teams Larry Johnston,
Murray McNichol, Fred Meier and
Niel Edgar.
Friday night action saw Wayne
Horton, Lynn Hickey and Bill
McDonald go home with wins.
Saturday, March 27 the club
hosted the Masonic Lodge
bonspiel. The 64 men had a great
day of curling and socializing.
Murray Hoover did a super job
organizing the event and also
curled his team to the
championship trophy. Sylvia
Pewtress and Jayne Skinn with the
help of Tinika Heatherington and
Marg Moffat did a superb job in
the kitchen. The management and
staff would like to thank the girls
for stepping up to the plate and
doing a terrific job!
Wednesday, March 31 the club
wraps up the curling bonspiel
season hosting the Burnside
Bonspiel.
Jeff Dixon of Burnside treats his

afternoon of curling and relaxation
followed by a beef and chicken
buffet.

With the curling year coming to
a close the management would like
to thank the staff Cheryl Burchill,
Elizabeth White and Bruce
Pewtress for again doing a great
job. Special thanks to our volunteer
bartenders Harry George and Mike
and Shawn Cottrill. A stellar job
was done by bonspiel organizers
Marg Moffat and Ross Peacock.
Volunteers Sylvia, Jayne, Tinika,
and Sharon did a superior job
helping out in the kitchen.
In closing thanks to all the
curling members and spares and
many league organizers and
volunteers.
OUT OF THE HACK
With curling season over the
Wingham Golf and Curling Club is
getting geared up for the golf
season. Weather permitting
superintendent Bruce Pewtress
plans on opening up the golf
course Friday morning, April 2.
The club is having a fundraiser
to kick off the golf season at the
Clinton Casino Tuesday, April 6.

Wednesday, March 31 is also the
last day to take advantage of the
early bird golfing membership
rates.
