(Denny Scott photo) Councillors approved the 2010 Huron County budget at its March 3 meeting, which comes with a 1.5 per cent tax increase. The total budget sits just under $33 million. With the average Huron County residential home assessed at just over $153,000, the increase will mean the addition of just over $12 to the annual tax bill. Councillor and Huron East mayor Joe Seili asked for a recorded vote on the motion to pass the budget, which was eventually passed with 18votes for the budget and two votesagainst it. Seili and Central Huron’s John Bezaire were the two who voted against the approval of the budget. Originally, before any initial cuts were made, the tax rate increase sat at nearly 4.5 per cent, but after senior management combed through their department budgets, cuts were made and budgets were trimmed. Some of the cuts made included potential new jobs and contingency funds within Huron County. By Shawn LoughlinThe CitizenHuron County taxesraised 1.5 per cent
