While members were arriving
Junior Leader, Reba Jefferson led a
game of chicken fights to release all
their energy. Then leader, Eileen
George called the meeting to order
by leading the pledge and roll call
which asked what the members were
thankful for. Most members said
they were thankful for their friends
and family. Leader, Mary Ellen
Foran, told the members about the 4-
H Farm Safety Day on April 10.
Eileen then told members about
the recipes the club would be
making, scarecrow pizza and apple
pie. Mary Ellen divided the groupinto two groups and the club beganto cook. While the pie was bakingmembers judged apples they would
want to take on their lunch. The
criteria were appearance, taste and
firmness. A few members shared
their reasons. All members had
different opinions of which apples
were best based on taste and looks.
Next Loretta Higgins and
Charlene Schramm shared their
minutes from meetings two and
three. The club discussed name ideas
and title pages. The name “Holiday
Honeys” was decided and Reba
made the title page. The group was
then divided into three groups to
make a little presentation on the first
people in Canada, to celebrate
Thankgiving. Some of these people
were Martin Frobisher, an Englishnavigator, who was giving thanks forsurviving their long journey andSamuel de Champlain, a French
explorer, who held a feast to share
with his Indian neighbours.
Eileen led the craft, a beaded
napkin holder, which depending on
the colours chosen, can be used for
any holiday. Marita Oudshoorn and
Reba helped members with the craft.
When the crafts were finished, the
members enjoyed their scarecrow
pizza and apple pie.
Vice-president, Sydney
McIlhargey, closed the meeting with
the motto. The next meeting is on
March 19 at 7 p.m. at Eileen
George’s. Members are to bring their
ingredient for the next meeting and
work on their “Me Pages”.
