Mom’s fresh baked goods available Friday Big win The Blyth Atom Rep Bulldogs took on Zurich at home on Saturday, winning their OMHA quarter-final game by a score of 5-3. (Vicky Bremner photo) Good start The Blyth Midget Rep Bulldogs got their OMHA semi-final series off to a good start with a 4- 3 victory over Norwich in the first game of their playoff series on Saturday. The Midget Rep Bulldogs had the momentum going into the series, having just swept Elma Logan, three games to none, in their previous series. (Vicky Bremner photo) The Brussels Atoms Local League Bulls had home and away playoff action on the weekend, taking on Teeswater on Friday, February 26, and Sat. Feb. 27. The Bulls split the two games, losing the first 2-1 on home ice, and winning the second 4-2 in Teeswater. Noah Terpstra took the first and only goal in their home-ice match, and went on to score two more in their win against Teeswater. Other goals were scored by Cody Harding and Hudson Smith, who netted his first of the year. Konrad Mcarter played net for both matches. In previous games, the Atoms started their playoff run with back- to-back games against Blyth, tying their first match 3-3 despite an overtime period, and losing the second match 2-1 in overtime. Goals in the series were scored by Terpstra (2) and Harding (2). Brussels third game of the playoffs was against Zurich, which they lost 5-1. Terpstra stopped the shut-out with his one goal. 1 There was another great week ofexciting action at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club. Monday, Feb. 22 the daytime league got the curling off to a good start. Skips picking up wins were Irving Elliott, Les Shaw, Barry Simpson, Bob Johnston, Wendell Stamper and John Nixon. Monday night men’s league saw Hugh Clugston and Barry Elliott pick up wins. Tuesday ladies league winning skips were Carol Horton, Kelsie Eadie and Amy Miller. The Tuesday night competitive league winners were Bill Devos, Kyle Forster, Russ Taylor and Calvin Ruttan. Wednesday, Feb. 24 the Club hosted the high school Huron/Perth championships. The girls teams were from F.E. Madill, Goderich, Stratford Northwestern, and Listowel. Listowel dominated this day winning all three games to advance. The boys teams represented F.E. Madill. Exeter, St. Mary’s and Listowel with the Exeter team advancing with a last rock takeoutwin over the Wingham team. Thursday daytime curling winners were Irving Elliott, Barry Simpson, Al Webster, Bob Johnston, Mac Inglis and John Nixon. The Thursday night family league had skips Doug Miller, Bill McDonald and Kyle Foster curl away with wins. Friday night mixed winners were Murray Fear, Barry Simpson and Bill McDonald. This coming Saturday, March 6 the club is hosting the Belgrave Mixed Bonspiel. In last week’s column the winning lead of the ladies bonspiel was Donna Shaw not Donna Marks as reported. Sorry for the error. OUT OF BOUND NEWS The Mac Inglis and Stewart Leedham teams played in the Men’s Masters Bonspiel in Harriston last Wednesday, Feb. 24. The Leedham foursome of Al Webster, Les Shaw, John Mann and Stewart Leedham placed first winning all games and capturing the Robertson Memorial Trophy.
