BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Feb. 7, the fifth Sunday
of Epiphany was Fred Meier.
Ushering were Nancy Hakkers,Hope Button and Terry Richmond.Running the Power Point was FredHakkers. Floyd Herman was musicdirector.David Onn welcomed everyone tochurch in the absence of Rev. GaryClark. The UCW meeting is Thursday,Feb. 25.
The choir sang the Introit, He,
featuring Liz Herman.
Kathy Douglas, Rev. Clark’s
partner asked the children to help
her get to the back of the church.
Kathy tried to get to the back by
walking into the pews. Some of the
suggestions were that she could go
under but there would be too many
feet. One of the children showed her
the centre aisle.
She told them people often need
help from other people. If they talk
to others and listen to what they say
it will help them.
Talking to God is another way to
solve problems.
The choir and congregation sang
and signed the hymn, I Know Your
Light.
Lori Brooks read the scripturefrom Luke 5: 1-11.The choir sang an anthem,Somebody Bigger Than You and I.Jesus gave the fishermen somesimple advance in the scriptures. This is what Jesus is tellingChristians to try somethingdifferent.Parenting today is not an easy task
but if something isn’t working, try
something new.
Often teenagers listen to their
peers whether they are right or
wrong. They do not get the undying
love from their peers as they would
get from their parents.
Walking into deep water takes
faith and God can help if people just
listen.
The church can walk alongside
teenagers and help them find a path
to go.
The final hymn was, I The Lord of
Sea and Sky.
