The Blyth-Brussels PeeWee girls

Storm from Saugeen Shores in
Brussels on Sunday, Jan. 24.
The game was close checking and
both teams stood their ground
through the first two periods of play.
The visitors were the first to record
a goal in the opening minutes of the
third period. A few minutes later
they added to the lead.
The home side responded 30
seconds later with a goal of their
own by Delayna Smith with assists
going to Ashley Higgins and Ashley

PeeWee girls win
exhibition match
The Saugeen Maitland Lightning
‘Bolts’ PeeWee A enjoyed home
cooking this past weekend as they
won two and tied one in Howick.
On Saturday they hosted a high-
pressured forechecking Chatham
squad who were out to knock the
Bolts out of first place in their
division.
Ashlee Lawrence, Owen Sound,
scored Saugeen’s first goal by
snitching the puck from a Chatham
defenceman at Saugeen’s blueline
and had a breakaway to the
opposition’s goal.
An overly-aggressive Chatham
team then ran into a string of
penalties giving Tori Terpstra,
Atwood, the opportunity to gobble
up a rebound off a Mildmay’s
Miranda Lantz shot from the point
and a 2-1 lead.
The Maitlanders also received
strong defensive efforts from Taylor
MacDonald, Mount Forest and
Holly Nelson, Wallace, in this 2-1
victory.
Game two against the Outlaws
saw Chatham continue with their
relentless forechecking. Avery
Reeves, Mount Forest and Hanna
Herman,Ayton, put in a strong game
back on the blueline. Reagan
Kaufman, Durham, was outstanding
in a penalty-killing role for Saugeen.
As in the first game Chatham’s
inability to stay out of the sin bin
gave the Lightning the opportunity it
needed as Lantz scored on a power
play with an assist going to Ciara
Lark, Mildmay for Saugeen’s only
marker in a1-1 tie.
Sunday the Bolts hosted Stratford
and dominated the Aces. Terpstra led
the attack with two goals and singles
went to Lawrence and Ally
Speilmacher, Durham, whose goal
was shorthanded in this 4-1 victory.
Speilmacher, Kaufman, Lantz and
Lexi Smith, Brussels were relentless
in their forecheck while on the
powerplay hemming the Aces inside
their own zone for an entire penalty.
