The Thursday night dart league
had 19 players come out for a night
of fun. The first-place team was
Roger McHardy and Marlene
Rutledge. In second were Tim
Harrison, Sandra Josling and John
Harrison. The high shots of the nightwere Gord Jacklin, shooting 133 andMarlene, hitting a 109. The highstarts over 80 had three folks scoring
: 88, Bush Whittard; 106, Deb Cann
and a 120, Tim.
Everyone is welcome to come out
and give darts a try. The more the
merrier.
The Friday night supper of
smoked picnic shoulder and
scalloped potatoes was enjoyed by a
crowd of over 40 people. This week
will be lasagna.
The Melville Presbyterian Church
held its annual Robbie Burns dinner
and dance at the Branch on Saturday
evening. The meal was enjoyed by
over 100 people.
The evening included a toast to the
haggis, by Cliff Coultes, RogerMcHardy and Kasey King. The haggis was piped in byLegion pipe band members Don
Martin, Joan Perrie and Jamie
Mitchell.
Highland dancing was performed
by Kasey King and Jennie
Schimanski and a group of people.
The Brussels Legion pipe band
played a selection of music after the
dinner and again during a break in
dancing.
The music for the dance that
evening was provided by the Wilbee
Orchestra.
The Saturday afternoon euchre
had eight tables of players hoping to
be winners.
There was a tie for first place with
two teams having 81 points, Tomand Eileen Sloan and Viola andRuth. The third-place prize went toJohn and Iola Subject with 76
points. The low prize of the day
went to Bush Whittard and Bill
Robb tallying only 42 points. The
lone-hand prizes went to Jean
Bewley and Paul.
The Sunday night dance had a new
band play this week. The Randy
Satchell Band did a good job for a
much smaller crowd than usual.
Nearly 70 were out for the music
and lunch and the special treat of
birthday cake brought to the dance
by the Clinton ladies.

The January meeting of the
Melville Guild and Women’s
Missionary Society was held in the
church parlour on Tuesday evening,
Jan. 19. Nine members and one
visitor sat down to a potluck supper.
Eluned McNair opened the
meeting with a reading, We Have
Come to the Beginning. The hymn,
At Thy Feet Our God and Father was
sung.
Mrs. McNair read a story, What
Shall I Wish Thee and Cathrine
Campbell read the scripture from
Revelations.
The topic was given by Rev.
Campbell. She showed the painting,
Light of the World and told its story.
Mrs. McNair led in prayer and the
hymn, Standing at the Portal was
sung.
The closing prayer was led by
Mrs. McNair.
Alice Marks presided over the
business. The minutes of the
December meeting were read and
approved. The correspondence
included a thank you card from
Anna Cunningham and an invitation
to the WMS annual meeting to be
held in Wingham on Monday, Jan.
25.
Leona Armstrong and Marg Work

meeting.

Committee (ARC). This committee is reviewing the current student accommodation at Brussels,
Grey Central, Elma Township, Listowel Eastdale, Listowel Central and Wallace Public Schools. The
