The Huron Perth District
Women’s Institute directors’
meeting was held in the Montkon
Optimist Hall hosted by the
Hampstead and Kuhryville
branches.
The roll call asked where the
Tweedsmuir histories are being
stored from all the present and
disbanded branches in the district.
Many are in homes and others in
archives, libraries and museums and
have been microfilmed over the
years.
The Federated Women’s Institute
of Ontario and the Ontario
Genealogical Society have agreed to
work together to identify, conserve,
preserve and digitalize all the
Tweedsmuir Histories in Ontario.
This will enable all the histories to
be preserved together.
Another Ladies Night Out will be
held this fall. A committee
comprised of the president, public
relations officer, treasurer, and all
branch ROSE co-ordinators will be
involved in the planning session.

Under the new strategic plan the
emphasis is on three goals: to retain
and increase membership, develop a
strong financial foundation and
strength FWIO’s Advocacy
Program. Advocacy is a core
function and central to FWIO’s
future.
The Erland Lee Museum Home is

HOW DOES ASTHMA AFFECT PEOPLE?
• Sixty per cent of individuals with asthma have symptoms that are
poorly controlled, which can often restrict their daily activities
• Thirty-nine per cent of individuals report limitation in their physical
activity due to asthma
• Twenty per cent report absenteeism from school, work or social
engagements due to asthma
• In Canada, there are approximately 10 deaths from asthma per
