Scraping the ice With the natural ice surface at the Belgrave Community Centre, ice scrapers are used to clean the ice instead of an ice resurfacer. Just in time for the renovations to be complete and the ice surface finally being declared fit to skate on, Paul Cook Electric and Willie’s Custom Collision have donated five ice scrapers to ensure the ice in Belgrave stays smooth for years to come. The Kinsmen met on the ice earlier this month to celebrate their achievement. The project is now complete and the ice is ready for skating. And people can spread the infection up to two days after they’re feeling better.” Noroviruses are very infectious, but Nassiri says stopping the spread of infection includes some of the basics. “Good handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is important for everyone. Alcohol-based sanitizers with more than 70 per cent alcohol can also be effective against noroviruses.” Nassiri says it’s also important for healthcare workers, foodhandlers and caregivers to be especially vigilant and should not return to work until 48 hours after symptoms have ended. She also says those staff should not work between facilities during an enteric outbreak.
