President Mrs. R, A. Qrr opened the Meeting with a Christmas peenl, 11911 call was answered with a favorite Chriatlnas carol. Each member participated in the program of their PWn choosing pertaining to Christmas, Mrs. Ann BrOadfoot of Hensall knitted five wee shirts and passed them over to the WMS to be sent to the needy children of India. Plans were made for the group to meet on Thursday, December 17, at 2 p.m, and pack boxes of gift goodies for the sick,, and shut-ins, and donations will be . greatly appreciated if left at Mrs. R. A. Qrr's or Mrs. Ed. Munn's by December 16. The United Church Women of Chiselhurst United Church packed and delivered 15 Christmas baskets to shut-ins of The annual Christmas party for the 'children of the Legion and Aukiliary was held Sunday afternoon in the' Legion' Hall when some 40 bags of candy and gifts were even out to the children, Films were shown and' lunch served. In charge of the project was Mrs. Wm. Smale, and Mrs. John Shea. Mrs. George Armstrong is a patient in South Huron Hospital. Mrs. Alma Hess left Thursday of this week by plane to spend the winter months with her three sisters and a brother in Regina, Sask. Mrs. Grace Harpole left Wednesday to Visit with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Grover Book at Ottawa. The annual Christmas party for the children of Hensall and Community was held at the local Dilling, Mrs. Grace Harpole, Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs. R. A. Orr and Mrs. John Shea. Gifts were presented to the 4-H leaders, Mrs. Wm. Fuss and Mrs Don Travers, and Mrs. Peck was presented with a gift. Mrs. Elizabeth Riley gave the report of the Area Convention at Stratford. Mrs. T. Sherritt gave courtesy remarks. A lunch was served, convened by Mrs. Clarence Reid. Program conveners were Miss Greta Lammie and Mrs. Carl Payne. Hostesses were Mrs. R. Elgie and Mrs. J. McAllister. the ' church on Tuesday afternoon, arena Saturday • sponsored by businessmen, organizations and individuals of the village. Santa caused quite a stir when he arrived at the Arena in the new fire truck. Some 400 bags of treats, the bottles of chocolate milk were handed to the youngsters by the local firemen. The children enjoyed a number of films. The chocolate milk was donated by Ron Mock of Hurondale Dairy, FIGHT TB AHD OTHER RESPIRATORY DISEASES A soul-stirring Christmas meeting of Hensall United Church Women took place on Monday, December 14 in the beautifully decorated church when they had as their guests the U.C.W. of Zurich. The meeting was hosted by Mrs. Earl Rowe, Mrs. Russell Errat, Mrs. Eric Luther, Mrs. Laird Mickle and was conducted by the president Mrs. Vern Aldendice and her very talented and inspired co-worker Mrs. Rodger Venner. A Christmas tableau was presented • with Mrs. Harry Hoy and Mrs. Howard Scene being the commentary. It featured the shepherds: Mrs. Harold Currie, Mrs, David Kyle, Mrs. Edison Worrest; the' wise men: Mrs. Robert Cook, Mrs. Blackwell, and Mrs. Wm. Mickle; Joseph: Mrs. Jack Drysdale; Mary, Mrs. Ron Wareing, Mrs. Rodger Venner read the scripture and the prayers given by Mrs. Veinier and Mrs. Alderdice were • taken-4rorrp4 Margery Holmes "Prayer of a Housewife." Musical numbers for the evening by the U.C.W. Sextette comprised of Miss Mary Goodwin, Mrs. Ron Mock, Mrs. Cecil Pepper, Mrs. Robert Redburn, Mrs. J. C. Goddard, Mrs. Carl Passmore with Mrs. Wm. Fuss playing the accompaniment. Mrs. Laird Mickle presented a medley of sacred songs on the piano and the carol singing throughout the tableau and the program, with Mrs. Fuss at the organ was heart-warming. The offering was' taken by Mrs. Earl Rowe and Mrs. E rrat. Mrs. James McAllister on behalf of the U.C.W, presented the retiring president Mrs. Vern Alderdice with a Life Membership in the U.C.W. and presented, her with her pin. Lunch ' of sandwiches and Christmas goodies were served by units 1 and 2. Grades 7, 8, 9, 10 of the Sunday School of Hensall United Church under the leadership of Jack Caldwell, Wayne Payne and Mrs. Cecil Pepper, visited the Queensway Nursing Home on Sunday December 13. They sang carols for the patients and passed treats which they had brought. The Minister, organist and senior choir of Hensali United Church presented a Christmas vesper service at the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich, on Sunday afternoon, following the chapel service Mrs. Turkhim organist and her husband Jack entertained every one at their home in Zurich. Mrs. Gary Merritt and son Gregory who have been visiting with the formers parents Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne have returned to California. Mrs. Russell Brock opened the Christmas meeting 'of Chiselhurst United Church Women with a poem,' "Continueing Christ", All joined in singing Hark the Herald Angels Sing followed with the Lord's Prayer. Some of the datelines are familiar but others are what Producer-Director Michael Woodward calls "ugly surprises". Afterwards Mrs, Robert Taylor read the Christmas story, A double duet consisting of Mrs. Wm. Taylor, vim Louis Taylor, Mrs. Bob ebster and Mrs. Eda McClinchey sang "0 Holy Night". A poem was read by Mrs. TQ111 Consitt "Christmas not Xmas," and a reading by Mrs, Ida McClinchey "Christmas is Remembering". This pageant will be repeated at the Concert on December 21 in the township Hall. The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Ida McClinchey and Group Three served a lunch. EXPLORERS The Explorer Group met with the president Miss Cathy Taylor in charge. Miss Ann Marie Heard read the scripture lesson, prayer by Miss Janis Chuter, Miss Sylvia Wilson read the minutes and the offering was taken up by Miss Brenda Dawson and dedicated by Miss Ann Marie Heard. Miss Janis Chuter gave the financial report and the meeting was closed by the president.
