Something has been added to
our arena. We have permission to
form a figure skating club — and
will do so with the help of as
many interested adults as
possible.
On Friday, December 4,
between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.,
there will be registration for any
" children who want to learn to
figure skate — this includes boys
who would like to be better
skaters for playing hockey.
Skating will begin on Monday,
December 7 at 5 p.m.
Several of our own Bayfield
skaters are donating their time
and knowledge to teach the
fundamentals of good and
proper skating. They have
attended special Coaches Clinics
to qualify and are coaching at
other clubs at present so have
some experience to get our club
started.
Any more advanced skaters
will be very welcome even
though we will not have a
professional this year. If you
hold a Coaches Badge please join
us; we need all the help we can
get.
We hope to have enough
skaters enrolled to pay for the

Figure skating at Rayfield
ice we request — so please co me
out and register on December 3,
between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at
the arena. You may pre-register
when you call the following
numbers for more information:
565.2777 or 565-2145..
There is a maximum fee for
any one family of three or more
skaters. Don't hestitate to call
and ask questions, We also
require parents who are willing
to donate a bit of time to the
forming of the club. There won't
be a tremendous amount to do
right off the bat, so jump in at
the beginning and grow with the
club, learning as we go.
The Bayfield Arena Board
Report for 1970. A report of
finances received during 1970
was made by the chairman:
Donations, $185., Recreation
Committee (skating etc) $1010.,
Banquet Committee, $940.00,
Rentals, $85.00, Lions club for
new siding, $500.00.
The Recreation Committee
also reported they had
purchased roller skates costing
around $500.00. Skating was
restricted due to installation of
piping for artificial ice so that
revenue during 1970 was
reduced considerably.
