Mrs. Norman F. Cooper has been visiting with her father Mr. J, M. Atkinson for the past week,. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Wiltse, Mr. and Mrs, Cecil Elliott, Don and Barbara of Clinton spent Sunday with Mr, and Mrs, Ross Merrill and family. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford J, Stewart of 203 Princess Street, East, Clinton -were honoured by their family on the occasion of their 45th wedding anniversary at a surprise dinner held in the auditorium of the Bayfield Community Centre on Saturday November 28. • Mr. and Mrs. Stewart were married 45 years ago on November 25 at the bride's home in Morris township. They farmed on the second concession of Stanley , township until moving to Clinton 11 years ago. All their children arid their families were with them for the celebration, they were: Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart , and family of London; Mr. James Stewart of Montreal; Mr, and Mrs. Walter (Lillian) Turner and family, Bayfield; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh (Betty) Millar and family, Londesborough; Miss Helen Stewart of Barrie; Miss Connie McLarty, London; and Mr. Larry Ballantyne, Exeter. Friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mote of Bayfield on Sunday November 29 on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Mote the former Edna Weldon were married at the home of the bride's parents at Avon, Ontario on November 24. 1920. Mr. Mote is. the $91.1 of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Mote of Belmont. McNeil M.L.A. for Elgin, Pink and white streamers with white -wedding hells .and bouquets of flowers decorated Trinity Parish Hall on Friday November 27 when friends of bride elect Mary Elizabeth Ervine gathered to honour her with a shower. The bride elect, her mother Mrs. Spencer Ervine and Mrs. Gordon Myer, mother of the groom to be were presented with corsages. , Miss Ervine was escorted to the gaily decorated stage and Mrs. J, B. Higgins gave a very fitting address. Assisting -in opening the many gifts were Helena Van Den Hoven, JacqUeline Johnston, Karen and Brenda Meyer and Faith Renner. , The bride elect fashioned the traditional shower bonnet which was arranged by Shirley Boyce made from the ribbons off the gifts. Miss Ervine thanked all present for the honour given her. During the evening contests were played followed by a lunch served by the ladies of the Trinity Guild. Mr. Adam Flowers has announced the Bayfield area hockey schedule for Monday nights will be as follows: boys 9-11 years, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; boys 12-14 years, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.; girls (all ages), 8:30 - 9:30 p.m.; boys 15-16 years, 9:30 - 11:00 p.m. Evans resigns as Health Officer' The Huron County Board of Health announces with regret the resignation of Dr. G. P. A. Evans as Medical Officer of Health effective February 28, 1971. Dr. Evans has accepted the post of Medical Officer of Health for the Waterloo County District Health Unit. We have permission to form a figure skating club — and will do so with the help of as many interested adults as possible. On Friday, December 4, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., there will be registration for any " children who want to learn to figure skate — this includes boys who would like to be better skaters for playing hockey. Skating will begin on Monday, December 7 at 5 p.m. Several of our own Bayfield skaters are donating their time and knowledge to teach the fundamentals of good and proper skating. They have attended special Coaches Clinics to qualify and are coaching at other clubs at present so have some experience to get our club started. Any more advanced skaters will be very welcome even though we will not have a professional this year. If you hold a Coaches Badge please join us; we need all the help we can get. We hope to have enough skaters enrolled to pay for the •011•111111111, Figure skating at Rayfield ice we request — so please co me out and register on December 3, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the arena. You may pre-register when you call the following numbers for more information: 565.2777 or 565-2145.. There is a maximum fee for any one family of three or more skaters. Don't hestitate to call and ask questions, We also require parents who are willing to donate a bit of time to the forming of the club. There won't be a tremendous amount to do right off the bat, so jump in at the beginning and grow with the club, learning as we go. The Bayfield Arena Board Report for 1970. A report of finances received during 1970 was made by the chairman: Donations, $185., Recreation Committee (skating etc) $1010., Banquet Committee, $940.00, Rentals, $85.00, Lions club for new siding, $500.00. The Recreation Committee also reported they had purchased roller skates costing around $500.00. Skating was restricted due to installation of piping for artificial ice so that revenue during 1970 was reduced considerably.
