CANADA POWER EXPORTS KEEP U.S. PLUGGED IN Canadian hydro utilities are playing, an unexpectedly large role in helping to meet summer peak loads on U.S. electric systems, according to Modern Power and Engineering magazine. Ontario Hydro's exports across the border this year are expected to be five times greater than in 1969, and power-hungry American utilities would take more if the transmission system could handle it, In the midwest, Manitoba Hydro has linked up with three U.S. utilities to bail them out of a summer power deficit (the bill , came to ppep.op) before the scheduled Opening' of a 50,000 kw power feed to the northern states this fall. Quebec-Hydro got into the export field by supplying the New York power pool to cover shortages not covered by the Ontario feed. • The first inter-town bicycle rodeo between Goderich and Clinton public schools was held on Friday, October 30, at Victoria Public School, Goderich, under the sponsorship of the Goderich Lions Club and the direction of Constable T. Dr. G. F. Mills, in his address, paid tribute to the efforts of Constable Fortner in organizing the event, noting the constable did something tangible rather than just talk about doing something.
