Mrs. Gordon Taylor visited last week at Ailsa Craig with her sister, Mrs. Luther Morley, and Mr. Morley. Mr. Ralph Trommer left last Monday for Australia stopping off for a visit in Vancouver and Honolulu. Mrs. Ralph Munro attended the Kuepser-Pettie wedding in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Stratford, last Saturday. Large congregations were present upon the Auburn Charge of the United Church on Sunday, October 25, on the occasion of the quarterly Communion and Baptismal services. Miss Nancy Anderson was soloist • at Knox Church. Pastor Alfred Fry was assisted at these services by Rev. Thomas Elliott of Kirkton. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Campbell of Blyth were guests of his aunt, Mrs. Bert Taylor, last Tuesday. Sunday guests at The Manse were Mr. Morris Fry, Kincardine; Mr. and Mrs. John Dahmer and Nancy, Kincardine, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Fry and Joe of Ripley. Mr. and Mrs. Clare Longhurst and Miss' Maureen Longhurst attended the wedding of their daughter, Gloria, at St. Thomas last Saturday, October 24. AUBURN WI HEAR DOLLAR ADVICE "Making your dollars go" was the message of Mr. L. B. Hill, manager of the Victoria and Grey Trust Company, Goderich, when he spoke at the October meeting of the Auburn Women's Institute. Mrs. Fordyce Clark introduced the speaker and Mrs. Thomas Haggitt thanked him. The meeting was in the charge of the president, Mrs. Len Archambault, who opened the meeting by reading the poem, Money Will Buy. The Mary Stewart Collect and 0 Canada, with Mrs. Robert J. Phillips at the piano. The minutes were accepted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Donald Haines. She also gave the financial statement. A report of the County Women's Institute Rally held recently at Centralia was given by the delegates, Mrs. Ed. Davies and Mrs. Bert Craig. Mrs. Donald Cartwright was appointed delegate to the London Area convention to be held next month at Stratford. Several catering to banquets and wedding dinners were discussed. Mrs. Ed. ,Davies read the resolutions and these were voted on. A piano solo was played by Mrs. James Jackson. The report of the card committee was given by Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell. She also read the thank you notes that were received. The collection was received by Mrs. William Dodd and Mrs. Thomas Lawlor and the pennies for friendship were taken up by Lorie Cartwright, Mrs. Ed Sturgeon attended a falrlilY gathering at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson, St. Marys The occasion was a 25th wedding anniversary Party in honour of another daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bisback. Mr. and Mrs. James Dewar of Don Mills visited with their mother Mrs. David Dewar recently. Pat and Wynn Graham have returned from a much needed weeks' vacation to the New England States. Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Harris of Niagara on the Lake visited with Mrs. Elva Metcalf recently., Mr. Glen Smith of Brantford and Mrs. B. Candy of London were guests with Mrs. L. B. Smith on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Larson had as their guests over the weekend Cpl. and Mrs. Stan Smith, Lea Ann and Lisa and Cheryl Elks all of Anderson Park (Camp Borden). Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Taylor, David and Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Steckle attended the christening of Lisa, daughter of. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Steckle Jr., on Sunday, in Goderich Anglican Church. Ireland. They report the weather was excellent and that this is the time of year that reservations for hotels, car rentals and theatres are unnecessary, They were the only guests one evening in a delightful old manor house that had been converted to hotel and had V. I. P. treatment from the hosts. . Mrs. Arthw Brisson was also on the flight to Britain and agrees that it was a wonderful trip. W. met at the Hut, October 22 with 12 members present. Treasurer Mrs. N. Rivers reported a balance of $116.95 after disbursements of $84.50. It was moved and seconded to make donations to St. Monica House, Sister Dorothy Dykes and the Primates Relief Fund, At 11 a.m. on St. Andrew's Day there will be a corporate Communion service followed by a pot-luck lunch at the hut. Roy Fitzsimons, Ernie Hovey, Joe Mayman and Eric Earl attended the Legion meeting in Clinton on Monday night. Ways and means were discussed to improve the attendance at the annual Remembrance Day church parade to be held this year from Trinity Anglican Church on Sunday, November 8. The Clinton Legion will send a carload of men to augment the turnout of Local Bayfield veterans. ' Mr. and Mrs. Robert Borland of Detroit visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Steckle on the weekend. Mrs. J. S. Smith, Brussels, and Miss Hazel Wocks, Teeswater, were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fitzsimons. Miss Bonnie Gingerich of R. R. 2, Zurich spent the weekend with Miss Valerie Merner. What's new at Huronview? John Leeming on violins. The dancing included old-time waltzes, polkas, schottische, two-steps, square dances and the wheelchair waltz. The most notable thing was the enjoyment reflected in the eyes of the spectators. The' regular family night was held in the auditorium on Thursday, October 22, with a program provided by the Varna Explorers, assisted by Mr. W. McAsh showing slides of Flordia. We are looking forward to the tea and sing-song on Wednesday, October 28, and the variety program on Family Night, October 29. The roll call was answered by each member telling what to serve to unexpected guests. During lunch Mrs. Fordyce Clark held an Elimination contest which was-won by Mrs. Frank Raithby. Londesboro The October birthday party was held in the auditorium on Wednesday, October 21, with the Gorrie Women's Institute providing a variety program consisting of duets, violin solos, and a very lively sing-song. Following the program gifts were presented to the '19 residents having birthdays in October, and birthday cake and ice cream were served. The weekly dance was held on Monday, October 19, in the auditorium. Lee, CounsellOr at the "Camp Parents without Partners" gave an interesting address. Mr. Neville Forbes is a patient in Clinton Hospital having suffered a coronary during the week. The community hopes he will soon recover. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Mair of Detroit spent last weekend with his sister Mrs. Fairservice and Ann. Several people from the village enjoyed a few hours on Saturday viewing "Country Crafts" held in Carlow. Ideal weather added to the enjoyment of the Fair. Almost every craft one could name was on exhibit. Mrs. Stuart Miner, of Thames Road United Church, President of Huron-Perth Presbyterial was guest speaker Sunday morning at the United Church Women's Service at the United Church choosing for her theme "New Horizons of the Church", challenging the Church to Christian Service. She gave a most interesting and informative discourse. Music by a sextette from the ladies U. C. W. choir was contributed. President Mrs. Verne Alderdice, presided, assisted by Mrs. Howard Searle: Mrs. J. Turkheim was organist and choir director. More than 18,000 Roman Catholic students from across Ontario jammed Maple Leaf Gardens Sunday in a massive rally to demand equality of education in the schools. Response to the rally was so great that the Garden doots were locked at 12.30 p.m. because all seats , were taken. Fifteen thousand lined the streets outside. The students, members of the Ontario Catholic Student Federation, want the Ontario Government to extend financial assistance beyond Grade 10 in separate schools. Attending the rally from Hensall were Miss Margaret Mousseau, Tony Charrette, Keith Volland, Ted Thuss, and Bill Bengough. The committee in charge of the local association of Guides and Brownies were more than pleased with the success of their candy sale held Saturday when the Guides and Brownies met with a splendid response when they canvassed the village. Jim Venner's auction sale held Saturday, October 24 was very successful and well attended with good • prices realized. Mr. Lloyd Veinier of Hensall purchased the house. Harold Jackson of Seaforth was auctioneer. The A.C.W. of St Paul's Anglican Church was more than pleased with the success of their bazaar, bake sale and tea held Saturday, October 24 attended by many from Hensall and community, the baking was sold out in record time. Conveners the project were Mrs. Annie Reid and Mrs. Kay Scrabuik. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Christian of Napanee, and Lyle of Kingston, visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle. Four carload of ladies from Carmel Presbyterian Church attended the Thank-offering meeting at First Presbyterian Church, Seaforth, on Thursday October 22. Remembrance Day Service will be held in St. Paul's Anglican Church Sunday, November 15 at 9.45 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. George Mickle visited last Thursday with Mrs. and Mrs. Laird Mickle. California with her daughter on Sunday where she will spend the winter. Mr, and Mrs. Jim Scanlon of London spent Monday with the Airdrie family and the Charlie Scanlon family. Mrs, Skimmin who is at present with her daughter Mrs. Scaulon, accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hamilton of Moorefield spent a few days last week -with Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Thompson. Mrs. Ida Townsend returned home on Saturday having spent a week with her daughter in Toronto. Mrs. H. Bickner of Markham and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lund of Richmond Hill spent Saturday with Mrs. Gordon Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Snell left for Halifax on Monday where he will exhibit some of his prize sheep. Mrs. Lily Webster and Mr. Wm. Govier spent a few days in Chatham with the latter's daughter, Mr. and Mrs. McEwan and family.
