Mr. and Mrs. J. Howard Aitken
Mr. and Mrs. J. Howard Aitken were married at St. George's
Anglican Church, Goderich, on Saturday, October 10 in a
double-ring _ceremony. Reverend Garwood G. Russell
off iciated. Mr. Aitken is vice president of Signal-Star
Publishing Ltd. and General Manager of •the Clinton
News-Record. The couple will live at 37 Market Street.

providing much pleasure these
days. On the verge of disposing
of the bulb, she decided it
looked as though it might come
to life again so it was repotted
and now has four lovely blooms

showing members how to lift

flowering bulbs and how to store.

RNA course at Kenora Hospital,

begun a two-year course in
Mining Technology at the
Northern Alberta Institute of
Technology, Edmonton,
Alberta.

To date, the CNIfi canvass has
realized a sum of $942,00 which
is within $20 of last year's total.
The objective for this year is
$1,000, and with still more to
come in, it is expected that this
goal will be reached. The canvass
is to be completed this week. As
a matter of interest we report
that in the Holmesville area
where 52 house calls were made,
every one donated resulting in a
total of $90.00.

Clinton Public School. This

p,m. the Brownies, Guides and .
Rangers of Clinton are providing
fun and entertainment for the
folk (young and old) of the area,
There will be home baking,

fresh apples, cider, pumpkins,
Hallowe'en items, novelties and
refreshments offered for sale,
This is a fund raising project and
we are all asked to support it,

Commission reported to police
that two flags were stolen early
last Thursday morning from the
top of one of the buildings on
Park Lane.

Mr. J. D. (Doug) Thorndike of Clinton retired from the Civil Service in September. Here Doug is
presented with a service certificate by Colonel E. W. Ryan, former Base Commander of CFB
Clinton. He served in the RCAF from 1940-1946 and spent the last 22 years of his service
overseas. He joined the Civilian Staff of CFB Clinton in July 1946 and held the position of
Stationary Engineer at the time of his retirement. Doug is well known for his keen interest and
activities in Community Affairs. He was President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Clinton Branch
140 in_ 1962; Zone Commander C-1 from 1960 to 1962; Chairman of the Cemetery Board;
Chairman of the Recreation Committee for eight years and remains a member of this Board;
Chairman of the Local Poppy Fund for six years; resigned for a time and is again Chairman;
Chairman of the District Poppy Fund since 1953; Councillor on the Town of Clinton Council for
the year 1960.
