OreseMed at C. WS S. commencement Kerry Toll, RR 3,. Blyth gave the valedictory address Friday evening as more than 40 grade 13 students graduated from Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton. Over 500 parents, teachers, students and special guests 'were present to see the grade 13, grade 12 and special business and commerce and science, technology and trades graduates receive their diplomas and certificates. More than 50 awards were presented during the ceremony. Top award winner was Wayne Gornall, who topped the grade 13 class receiving an Ontario Scholarship; the, W. D. Fair Scholarships for General proficiency and proficiency in physics and chemistry and in mathematics; the E. A. Fines memorial award for mathematics and the Sir Earnest Cooper scholarship. Miss Toll, who delivered the valedictory address was also a major award winner with an Ontario Scholarship and W. D. Fair awards for general proficiency, English and Biology. Florence Martin, RR 1, Clinton took an Ontario Scholarship and W. D. Fair scholarships for general proficierky, French and Latin, and history. Paul Swan won two W: D. Fair scholarships for general proficiency and geography and Brenda Kingswell won the Fair scholarship for general proficiency. Other award winners were: Mr. R. J. Homuth, B.A., principal of C.H.S.S. delivers his opening remarks. GENERAL PROFICIENCY Grade nine, (Bartliff's Bakery award), Marion Thompson; grade 10, (Fairholme Dairy award), Cathy Benjamins; grade 11, (Anstett Jewellers award), Brenda Turner; grade 12, (all presented by the Canadian Forces Base, Clinton) arts and science, Judy Finley, business and commerce, Beverley Pulsifer, science, technology and trades, Steve Clark. The Douglas Jefferson Memorial Scholarship was won by Douglas Cameron. The Norman and Verna Carter Memorial Award for Science went to Cathy Benjamins and Tony Roest. The award ,from the Women's Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion, Branch 140 was won by Kay Stevens and Ivan Crittenden. won the Lavis Contracting Company Ltd. award. The Murphy Bus Lines award went to Kathy Hendrick. The Canada Packers award was won by John Sprung and C.H.S.S, library awards were won by Rosemary. Corey, Gary McPhee, Gretta Burns, Fred Vanderhaar. The Mabel Moffatt Memorial Award in Agriculture was won by John Sprung. Wendy Caldwell and Lyn Brandon won the award from the Women's Auxiliary to the Clinton Public Hospital.
