This award was well deserved s Mert has spent all his spare irne working for the ommunity Centre. A plaque was also presented o the president of the ommunity Centre Board, Bob nell who accepted on behalf of 11 who helped in any way get he building to its present state, The plaque read, "A Triumph f Community Teamwork, eptember 19, 1970," After the supper a dance was eld cin the auditorium and a ood time was had by all. The meeting pened with the Creed and the Aard's Prayer followed by the inutes of the June meeting and he treasurer's report. Twelve !embers and one visitor nswered the roll call with their acation Highlight. The members ecided to donate prizes worth '15 to the Hospital Penny sale. Since some of the members ad Spent a few hot days in the tospital this summer, it was ecided to donate a fan to the tospital for use as a comfort for atients. The October meeting ill be held at the home of arilyn Forbes on October 7. Phe meeting closed with the enediction. Mrs. Diehl read a most interesting letter from hayfield's prayer partner, Sister Dorothy Dykes, • Rev. Harrison led the closing prayers after which all enjoyed a, delightful tea hour. Bayfield meats turned over $22.00 to the Bayfield Agricultural Society. This was the amount taken in on the raffle for the 121/2 lb. family rump roast donated by them at the Bayfield fair. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon D. Scotchrner were honoured when 58 friends and relatives gathered at the home of their son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. William Scotehmer of Hensall on Saturday evening. The occasion was the couples' 25th wedding anniversary. . The bridesmaid of 25 years ago, Mrs. Fred Le Beau, and Mrs. Seotchmer were presented with corsages by Mr. William. , Scotchmer. Mr. Gordon Scotchmer 'replied to the presentation by, thanking. everyone for making the evening so enjoyable. Bayfield Lions club voted at their regular meeting at the Little Inn, Tuesday night, to donate $500 to cover the cost of buying metal siding for the newly erected addition to the Bayfield Community Centre. A new wing contains an extension to the ice surface changing rooms •and an auditorium upstairs; „„ oYi view the old fort while Jilt and Verna Lobb spent a couple of days in Chatham attending a Pride corn convention. BY WANDA MALCOLM Clinton II held their first meeting at the home of Mrs. Keith Tyndall. The meeting opened with the pledge, and, after the roll call, moved on to the business of voting for the executive which includes: President, Cathy Malcolm; Vice-President, Karen Tyndall; and Press Secretary, Wanda Malcolm. The group decided to make our 4-H book-white with black lettering. The discussion was on "Keeping Mentally Fit". Leaders showed a sample of "buck" weaving, also some patterns of knitting and stuffed toys. Plans were made for achievement day and' the meeting was closed. F(.1.1 OR • ALL Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dunn, Bayileld, celebrated their 40 wedding ' anniversary on Wednesday, September 16, 1970, when an Open House was held at the home of their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay, Bayfield. A goodly number of friends and relatives called to extend their best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Dunn. Those assisting with the tea ' were Mrs. Bert Dunn, Jr. Mrs. Ted Dunn, Mrs. Don Beck, Miss Catherine Hunt, Mrs. R. Grainger and / Mrs. James Butcher. A family dinner was held in St. Andrew's. United Church; Mr. and Mrs.. Dunn have seven grandchildren, five of whom were present and five great grandchildren,, three of whom attended, Two of. Turner, a descendent of the family that founded the church, unveils a cairn commemorating Turner's United Church which stood in Tuckermith township from 1862 to 1969 when it was torn down. Members of the former congregation attended an open air service to dedicate the cairn on Sunday. Conducting the service were Rev. Grant L. Mills and Rev. H. W. Wonfor. —staff photo.
