(Wilf) Maundcote-Carter entertained his collegues at a "request the pleasure of your Company" at the bar, An R.F,C, in Naval tradition celebrates the promotion, retirement, change 'of Comniand or any other suitable occasion. Lt. Commander Maundcote-Carter was born in England and attended School at Hampton. A school founded before John Cabot arrived in Canada. In 1941 he became a Radio Officer in the Merchant Navy and served on tankers until the end of the war. In 1944 he married a Canadian Wren in Newfoundland. After the War he attended the University of London and was at. the London School of Economics with a Canadian named Trudeau. During this time he founded the Student Cross Pilgrimage for British University Students which achieved fame in the novel "The Picture Goers." The year 1948 found him in Winnipeg lecturing at 'the University of Manitoba. While there he joined the Naval Reserve. On the outbreak of the Korean War he joined the RCN and served as navigation instructor in Navigation schools on both coasts. He was involved in the initiation of English as a second language training for recruits at Cornwallis and later head of the English department of HMCS Venture. He served during this period on HMCS Montcalm, HMCS D'Iberville and HMCS Ontario. While on the Ontario's last cruise, he captained the Cricket Team which beat the home team at Suva, Fiji. In 1959 he becanie Law Lecturer at HMC Supply School and developed the Instructional Communications Media Approach. He initiated and ran several Instructional. As head of the Audio Media Evaluation Department, . he conducted a survey of the use of Motion, pictures and video tape recording as instructional aids, Outside his military career, Lt, .Commander Maundcote- Carter and his wife were active in the Boy Scout movement. In 1954 he and his wife originated three new Wolf Cub Packs and the Naval Sailing Association Sea Scout Troop in Esquiinalt, He also laid out the blue print for Boy Scout Administrative decentralization, published as Hive off, In .1959, he and his wife initiated • the Hochelaga Youth Group using Boy Scout and Girl Guide program, He was Camp Chief of the first National Boy Scout Sailing Regatta, a member of Cardinal Leger's Committee on ,Boy Scouts; and a member of the Boy Scouts National Adult Training Committee, Both he and his wife were active in Scout work in Clinton. While in London he published "Colleeted Poems" and "Walsingham House" • a collection of essays. Later he wrote "Unity in Canada" a Survey of bicultural relations and problems. In 1962 he published "First of the First". Lt. Commander Maundcote-Carter leaves the Canadian Forces to become Director of Educational Services at Centennial College, Scarborough. Maundcote Carter C. D. Father and son achieve high honours at various exhibitions Ephraim Snell and son, James Snell, R.R. 1, Clinton, traditional breeders of top-quality "long-haired" Leicester sheep, have been scoring many successes at various Ontario exhibitions and fairs during the past fortnight. The Snells achieved the following flock standings: Peterboro Exhibition, August 12 — second in eight entries; Ridgetown Fair, August 15 — third in five entries; Central Canada Exhibition, Ottawa, August 26 — fifth in eleven entries; Canadian National Exhibition, Toronto, August 27 — third in more than 20 entries but first in Leicesters; Barrie Exhibition, Autust 29 — tied for first place in seven entries.
