Some great playoff ball is being played in the Clinton area.
Thia,„pvtikeek the 13antairla came back from an earlier loss with a
heads-"up= Linky Lanoille'a superb pitching to even their
series with Milton 14. Let's have a good turnout this Saturday
afternoon to give support to the boys,
An unfortunate situation happened at the end of the game when
a Clinton spectator entered the Milton team's dugout. Milton.refused
to play again in Clinton without police supervision, Manager Randy
Glew has made arrangements with pollee Chief Lloyd Westlake to
have a representative at the game.
The Peewees took a bad drubbing down in Kingsville and they
hope to come back with a big effort Saturday at 5 p.m. at CFB
Clinton.
The Brucefield Bombers, intermediate girls, have packed enough
action into their two home games at CFB Clinton this week to
warrant, a large following from the town to watch the girls in action.
Last Thursday's game was a little lopsided for Brucefield but the
next two games ended as real thrillers. In Shakespeare it took 13
innings for the Bombers to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Back in
Clinton on Monday night the girls were down 14-3 but some great
back-up pitching by Betty Graham and hitting, especially in the
ninth, brought the girls back and they lost a 16-15 squeaker with the
potential tying run on, third base.
The Graham family have a mother and two daughters playing on
the same, tearn. Sandra is not only playing for Brucefield lout is also
on the OASA Club from Milverton. This past weekend Milverton
won, their first game over Ottawa and travel to Ottawa over Labour
Day aveekend.
The Colts expect to return to playoff action this weekend. Watch
for notice of the game on the billboard at the radar memorial.
It took a photo finish to decide the first three positions in the
second race at Clinton• Raceway on Sunday. Number one,
Jerry G, driven by Roy Meriam of Goderich paced to first
place in front of number three, Glen's Johnny who nosed in
front of Merrywood Mite, number five.

fish and rapidly disappears
from tackle boxes.
The logical question, accord-
ing to Red Fisher, the angling
authority at Mercury out
boards, is why won't the lur
catch fish .any longer? Th
usual answers range from "The
fish got smart" to "They're no
making lures as they used to.'
The truth is that fisherme
are' fickle and just like t
change lures. They stop, fish
ing with the old baitst and whe
a lure isn't fished, it can't cat&
fish.
A good example of this is th
switch by bass anglers fro
spoons with pork rind tails t
plastic worms. Now it's the
plastic worm that is consiclerec
the real fish catchers. Beats the
old spoon and pork rind combo
But who's fishing spoons any
more? No one, for all practical
purposes; everyone is using the
new bait, and they're catching
fish.
In reality, the old, proven
lures are just as good as ever.
It's the fishermen who have
changed. They want to try
something different . • . and this
is good, For it means they'll
chuck their old habits and start
looking for fish in new places
with new techniques.
The whole thing is kind of a
circle affair. For one of these
days someone will "discover"
the spoon and pork rind method
again, and we'll be off on an-
other round of catching bass
with these. The product may
look a little different than pre-
viously, but basically it will he
the same spoon and pork tail
combination which worked
years ago.

Bombers lead series 2-1 BY BERT CLIFFORD
The third and deciding game
of the OBA Bantams playoffs
between Milton and Clinton will
be played in Clinton on
Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
Brian "Linky" Langille
brought the Fish and Gamer's
back from elimination in the
OBA series with an impressive
two-hitter in Clinton last
Saturday. Each pitcher had 10
strikeouts but Clinton collected
six timely hits.
Donnie MacDonald gave
Clinton an early 1-0 lead when he
picked up a walk the first inning,
stole second, then scored on
Danny Colquhoun's single.
Milton tied the score in the
fourth before Clinton struck for
three big runs in the bottom of
the fourth.
Danny Colquhoun and Brian
Kennedy were on first and
second with back-to-back singles
when Richard Welch belted a
triple to centrefield. Welch

Bombers settled down and held
Shakespeare to only three runs
in the following 7 innings.
Up to the ninth inning the
Bombers had only scored six
runs. In the ninth Brucefield
