A day
at the
track
So far Clinton Raceway has
brought the biggest spending
binge in history to Clinton this
summer.
During the month of July,
6400 persons bet more than
$120,000 at the track with more
than half of the season left to
go. The Kinsmen Club project is
undoubtedly a success.
The success of the raceway
has been more than in the
number of people it has
attracted or the money wagered
however. It is a success because,
unlike most racetracks which are
strictly for the adults, the
Clinton track provides fun for
the whole family.
While the parents are busy
watching the races, they know
their children are safe in the
supervised swimming pool or
playing in the playground. The
success of this is seen in the
business done by the two
refreshment stands on tfilb
grounds, the busiest places of all.
For the fans, the pre-race activity centres around picking a
winner and placing bets, but back at the barns more practical
work is being done like harnessing the horses for the next race.
While the adults amuse theniselves at their games, the children
try their own games. One of the reasons for the popularity of
Clinton Raceway has been that parents can bring their children
along too to swim at the pool or play in the park.
All the hustle and bustle is mouth to Make a young fellow
wonder what the woad it Coming to.
