President Mrs. Leonard Archeinlaeult was in charge and opened the meeting, The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Donald Haines. A letter re the coming Safety Conference was read. It was decided to sponsor 'the 4-H. fall project, Focus on Fitness and the leaders will be NW, Donald Haines, Thomas Haggitt, Mrs. Wes Bradnock and Mrs. Frank Raithby. , Plans were made to take a bus trip to Stoney Creek; the home of Adelaide Hoodless, the founder. of the W,L; the Mowhawk chapel; the home of Alexander Graham Bell and other points of interest. Anyone wishing to take this trip for $4 should contact Mrs. Donald Haines or Mrs, Len Archanthatilt, The President thanked all who had assisted with the catering of the Hallam-Culbert wedding. A duet was sung by Matireen Longhurst and Yvonne Bean. A piano solo was played by Lynn Turner and Mrs. McLennan read a poem about children. Doris Naylor played a piano solo. "Guess Who?" contest on cartoons was won by Bobby Powell. A penny sale took place in which the children won the prizes. A band-aid contest was won by Douglas Chamney; throwing ball in box, Wayne Powell; dropping clothespins in milk bottle, Larry Chamney; and most buttons on her dress, Mrs. Alfred Fry. Long colorful snakes were won by Robbie Plunkett, Michael Haggitt and Maureen Longhurst. Ice-cream, cookies and beverage was served by Mm, William Dodd, Mrs. Frank Raithby and Mrs, Eldon McLennan. FAMILY REUNION Over 50 were present at the annual Leatherland picnic held last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Chaniney, RR 1, Auburn. Games, races, contests and ballgaines were in the charge of Mrs. Clare Vincent of Londesboro and Mrs. Douglas Vincent of Clinton. Picnic lunch was served and guests were present from Toronto Clandeboye, Goderich, Blyth, Londesboro, Clinton and Auburn. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Case of Petrolia visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Phillips. Miss Mildred Scott of Mitchell visited last Sunday with her brother, Kenneth Scott, Mrs. Scott and family. Visitors over the weekend with Robert Chamney and other members of the family in this district were Mrs. Verna Doerr, Brian Doerr and Miss Judy Somerville, all of Niagara Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ives, David and Danny of Chippewa and Captain and Mrs. William Nurse and David of Camp Borden, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Keller of Dublin visited on Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Harry Arthur, Mr. Arthur and family. Mr, and Mrs. William Moss visited last 'week with his brother, Mr, Harry Moss and Mrs. Moss at Plattsville. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Beaver and son, Lorne Humphreys, all of Hespeler visited last week one evening with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Trommer and Connie. Master Frank Slater returned last weekend after visiting his grandmother, Mm, Slater Sr. at Hespeler. Miss Janice stayed for a week's holiday along with her brother, Michael who has been here. Miss Barbara MacKay of Sault Ste Marie is visiting with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Duncan MacKay for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer, Sherry, Wanda and Lawrence returned last week from a trip to Smooth Rock Falls to visit his sister, Mrs. Ken Swords and Mr. Swords. They also visited at Moose Factory and Moosinee. Bryan Plant and Gillian Towe of London are spending a week or two with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Towe. .SPECIAL SPEAKER Mrs. Glen Ager of Guatemala, Central America was the guest speaker last Saturday evening in the Sunday School 'room of Knox United Church. She was introduced by her sister-in-law, Mrs. John Hildebrand, A overy' pleasant -visit was had by the Mr. and Mrs. J. Veilleuy family, to their Mother and Fathers' 40th wedding anniversary on Saturday and Sunday on June 19 and 20. All the farnily of 'Trommelen were there plus a few friends. A luncheon was served and enjoyed by all. Middleton Miss Bonnie Sterling is on an extended tour of Europe. Dr. and Mrs. J. Mullins and daughter Mary of Toronto and Mr. Tadashi Nagashima of Japan were weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Middleton.
