members answered the roll-call

visitors were present.

Treasurers report showing a
balance of $209.61;
Thankyous were received
from the Penfound family and
Marion Snell. The annual picnic
•is planned for July 20 at 7 p.m.

District Collegiate Institute,

Federation visited Miss Johnston
in London and presented her
with a gift in appreciation of her
long years of work in this unit.

spent last week with her father

The next meeting will be held
at the home of Margaret Ball at
8:30 p.m., August 12. The roll
call will be "a penny for each
size of your shoe."
The programme will consist
of Lorna Ellis, Viola Farquhar
and Laura Forbes. On the lunch
committee are Lucy Ellis,- Lorna
Ellis and Viola Farquhar.
Sharon Colclough and Glenna
Ellis favoured the group with
piano solos. Jean Cumming had
a "For Sale" contest which all
enjoyed.
The meeting was closed with
the singing of the "Queen" and
Grace.

Miss Lynda Hill returned to
her home on Friday after
spending the past month in the
British Isles. She was
accompanied on her trip by a
classmate Miss Daphne Bernard
Waterford.

of a wedding Saturday, July 11
when Thomas Hallam and Verna
Elizabeth Culbert exchanged
wedding vows before Rev,
Leonard Warr, The groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs: Charles
Hallam of Lucknow and the
bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Thornas Park -of
Dungannon.
Given in marriage by her son,
Norman Culbert of Goderich,
the bride wore a street-length
dress of mint green nylon sheer
over peau de sole, white hat and
white accessories and a corsage
of orange roses. She was
attended by the groom's sister,
Mrs. James Schneider of
Auburn, wearing a street-length
dress of nylon orange ice sheer
over peau de sole, white hat and
accessories and a' corsage of
white roses. The groomsman was
Bruce Culbert of Bayfield, son
of the bride.
Following the 3 p.m.
ceremony a reception took place
in the Auburn Community
Memorial hall which was
decorated in pink and white
done by sisters and neices of the
bride. The bridal party was
assisted in receiving by the
bride's mother wearing • a
flowered pink dress, white
accessories and a pink carnation
corsage. She was assisted by the
groom's mother wearing a blue
crimplene dress with white
accessories and a pink carnation
corsage.
For travelling to Northern
Ontario, the bride wore a green
and black figured pant dresS
with black accessories. On their
return they will reside in
Goderich.
Prior to her marriage the
bride was honored with showers
at the home of Mrs. James
Schneider, Auburn and by staff
fellow employees at the
Goderich Psychiatric Hospital,
Goderich.
CELEBRATE SILVER
„ _WEDDING
- Mr. and Mrs. Clive H. Allin
were guests, of honor at the
Carlow Hall last Sunday on the
occasion of their 25th wedding
anniversary.
Over 30 relatives were present
and the table was centred with
suitably decorated cake. After
the dinner gifts were presented
and Mr. arid Mrs. Allin thanked
everyone for their gifts.
Mr. and Mrs, Allin were
married 25 years ago at Walton
by a Rev. Mr. Hazelwood and
the attendants were Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Snyder. Besides their
attendants and members of their
family other relatives present
were Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Wallace, Bayfield; Hugh Hill,
Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. James
Feagan, R.R. 5, Goderich; Mrs,
Stella Seabrook and Mrs. Alma
Kelly, both of Goderich and
Arnold Allin of Safford.
Clive H. Allin is the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Allin and Mrs. Allin was the
former Phyllis Bean, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. David Bean of
Carlow. Following their marriage
they lived at Carlow where they
operated the Colborne Municipal
Telephone switchboard for 15
years. They moved to Auburn
last November. They have two
sons, Raymond and Wayne and
one daughter Brenda Allim

MISSION SOCIETY'IVIEET
The July meeting of the
Woman's Missionary Society of
Knox Presbyterian Church was
held at the home of Mrs. Ed
Davies with a good attendance,
The • president Mrs, Wilfred
Sanderson was in charge and
gave the call to worship followed
by all repeating the Lord's
Prayer in unison. She welcomed
the members and visitors and the
devotional period was taken by
Mrs. Ed Davies. She chose
Ecclesiates the third chapter for
her scripture lesson,. and chose
"A time to love and a time to
hate," for her meditation. She
closed with prayer.
Miss Minnie Wagner had the
topic and spoke on the chapter
-- Is World Law Poksible? and
Conscientious Objection. A
discussion period followed.
A recorded musical number
of hymns and a duet — Is thy
Heart right with God?, was sung
by Mrs. Donald Haines and her
d aughter Mrs. Ronald
Livermore. The offering was
received by Mrs. Donald Haines
and dedicated with prayer.
The minutes of the previous
meeting were accepted as read
by' Mrs. E. Bradnock in the
absence of the secretary, Mrs.
Alvin Leatherland. A letter was
read from Southampton
thanking the Society for the
layette which had been sent to,
the Saugeen. Indian Reserve.
It was decided to send for the
new study book — How the
Word gets around.
The roll call was answered
by a Bible verse containing the
word — Confidence. The
meeting was closed by prayer by
Mrs. Davies. A' mystery box was
passed and Mrs. Thomas Haggitt
and Mrs. Ronald Livermore tied
for the prize which was in charge
of the Hostess. A delicious lunch
was served by Mrs. Davies
assisted by Mrs. Donald Haines.
TO OPERATE BOOTH
The Clinton Junior Farmer
Girls held a planning meeting for
a bake sale booth that is going to
be placed on the 'Square in
Goderich on Friday, July 17, in
the afternoon. The meeting took
place at the home of Miss
Brenda Ball, the secretary.. Those -
in charge of the booth are Karen
McKenzie, Brenda Archambault,
Kathy Mcllwain, Joanne Cook,
Sheron Collins and Nan Lapp,
assisted by other members of the
club.

McDonald who. recently was
appointed National Hardwood
Lumber inspector by the
National Hardwood. Lumber
Association with headquarters at
Chicago. This company operates
in North and South America and
Europe.
Peter attended U.S.S. No, 5
Hullett (Auburn school) and is a
graduate of the Goderich
District_ Collegiate. institute..„ It
was during his high school days
that 'he worked for James T.
Craig and Son in their
lumber-yard and sawmill during
vacation time. After graduating
he attended the National
Yardwood Lumber Inspection
Training &hob] in Memphis,
Tennessee. He is working now in
the Brampton District under
Carl Adam.

LARRY MEREDITH PQPP
Piivate funeral services Were
held Sunday at the Arthur
Funeral Herne Auburn for Larry
Meredith Popp -who died m
Victoria Hospital, London after
an accident. I-fe was the on of
Lorne Popp and Evelyn Young
and was born, June 26, 1959.
Following his birth he lived in
Auburn and then in Hullett
Township. He was a student at
Blyth Pablic School. Besides his
*eras he is survived by three
sisters, Diane, Debbie and Betty
Jo and four brothers, Douglas,
Robeit, Paul and David, his
maternal grandmother and
grandfather, Mr. and Mrs.
Meredith Young, Goderich and
his paternal grandmother, Mrs:
Amber Popp, Clinton.
'Rev. W. 0. Mather of Blyth
United.' Church conducted the
services. The pallbearers were
Uncles:Brian Hallam, Donald
Young, Donald Treble and
Murray Popp. Flowerbearers,
were' Gregory Hallam, Kenneth'
Popp,, Martyn McGee, Stephen
Caldwell and Wayne Caldwell.
SARA ANN CRAIG
Funeral services were held
last Saturday, July 11th at 2 p.m.
at the Arthur Funeral Home,
Auburn for Mrs. James Craig the
former 'Sara Ann Chamney. She
was born on March 26, 1891 and
was .the daughter of the late
John and Sara Ann Chamney.
She died in Victoria Hospital,
London on July 8 after an eight
weeks illness.
. She attended school at
Donnybrook and following her
marriage to. James T. Craig on
June 19, 1.913 took up residence
at St. Augustine on the farm
until they moved to Auburn
where Mr. Craig operated the
sawmill and lumber business.
She was a member of Knox
United Church and also a
member Of the U.C.W. She was
' predeceased by her husband but
is survived by three sons,
Arnold, Auburn; William L.
Craig, Auburn and Melvin J.
Craig of Bluevale, six
grandchildren and one brother,
Robert Chamney, Auburn,
the
Alfred Fry conducted
the ieivices with burial taking
place in Colborne cemetery.
Pallbearers were H. Brawley,
Toronto, John Daer, Auburn,
Herman Chamney, Windsor,
Frank Workman, Brussels,
Warren Bamford, Preston and
William Andrews, Ashfield Twp.
The 'flowerbearers were her two
grandsons, Allan and Brian

on Monday with Mr. Lawrence
Hill in Exeter Hospital.
Mrs. Ben Riley, Sandra and
`Lorna returned home with Mrs.
Ron Goodfellow to Mississauga
where they spent the end of the
past week.

returned home to Oakville after
spending the past week with

John Scott is a patient in the
Children's . War Memorial
Hospital in London. We hope he
will soon be feeling much
better.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shaddick
spent the past week enjoying a
holiday in Muskoka at a Lodge
near Huntsville. Recreation and
entertainment is provided for
everyone and is an ideal spot for
a vacation. They also called on
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ross a former
neighbor who resides in the
vicinity.
Mrs. Bette Napier left for her
home in Texas on Monday
having spent the past two weeks
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Bert Brunsdon. Mrs. Brunsdon
and Bette visited with Bert at
Westminster Hospital on Sunday
finding him much improved in
health.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Airdrie and
School teacher honoured
after 47 years of teaching
Miss Luella Johnston of
Clinton Public School Staff was
honored on several occasions
recently.
Miss Johnston has retired
after teaching for 47 years in
Huron County. She taught for
28 • years in Clinton Public
School.
